Usual cr+p on a slow news time. Spurs are going to have to pay their existing stars a lot more money from this summer onwards or they are going to lose them. Then how are they going to fill their new 61,000 stadium? they will not have the money to pay a lot more out in transfers so not bothered about them this close season. Only way would be is if we went down, and as that is not going to happen Spurs are not a concern. Agreed, be great if we get another season from him. In the current market I'd say he's worth about 40m, i.e. same as Leroy Sane and a bit less than Kevin Du Bruyne. In another season you'd hope he'd improve enough to be nearer the 50m mark. If he does go I'd prefer it was abroad.

Barcelona should be the only club he’d consider leaving us for. Imagine him turning out in the Barca colours in the Nou Camp. That’s the only scenario I could stomach and feel any pride in seeing. Edited by Brentmiester_General (20 Mar 2018 3.55pm)

Loving the way Wilf makes no noises regarding a move. I reckon he’ll stay . Providing the club keeps showing the ambition it’s currently doing. You mark my words .

I also reckon he could go and see SP at the end of each PL season and ask for an extra 10 or 20k a week and get it. I reckon he knows that as well. Couldn’t see that happening anywhere else.

Wilf40M Mahrez75M you do the maths. Anyway I haven't forgotten spurs and the Bostock saga so on principal would not want spurs to be considered. As has been said before all speculation papers trying to drum up a story.

Points won without Wilf this season - 0 Average prize money for staying in the league - £110m per year. £40m doesn't even come close to his value.

Even if there is any truth in the story that Spurs are preparing a bid I think it would take a much bigger bid than £40M to get him. What does annoy me though is lazy journalists who think they know what the player is thinking - that he will leave at the end of the season whether we stay up or not. Personally I think he has much more feeling for the club than the idiot journalists give him credit for. If we are relegated then he will go and rightly so as he deserves a bigger stage but if we stay up I for one think he cares enough to stay for at least one more season. He is loved here and he knows it.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

Coincidence or not? Wilf is just back from injury & the transfer rumours start again. Tottenham trying to unsettle him? Edited by Gyro1780 (20 Mar 2018 5.33pm)

That quote should be sent to all journos that write articles like these.
