I take it all back Our refs must be brilliant If they can influence a game so well they achieve a predetermined final result that is some skill.

Which does kind of get you wondering I cannot comment as to whether they were blatant mistakes as I haven't seen the incidents. That said, in general, supporters can make claims of "Very clear mistakes" having witnessed incidents numerous times on 'Slow-Mo. A referee and assistants certainly do NOT have the benefit of the viewing angles as seen on TV. Of course they make mistakes, having to make split-second decisions in real time but so do players and managers. Anyway, let's not get into refereeing standards in general as the debate will gallivant well away from the subject matter. Edited by Willo (11 Mar 2018 1.08pm)

I thought the ref was okay yesterday - shame his position for the disallowed goal wasn’t at the angle most of us saw it from. That goal would have given us more time to find an equaliser. Chelsea also could have gone on and got a third? Big decisions without VAR happen most matches - if it’s going to continue to be a debacle as shown recently in the Spurs v Rochdale and the Liverpool against someone (can’t remember who) then I would rather leave it to the men in the middle and take the the human errors? Tough one to call?

Edited by the silurian (11 Mar 2018 1.49pm) It was violent conduct on an official which is a nailed-on straight red card any day of the week. Don't understand why it's even controversial. If the ref didn't see it at all Morata should be getting a three-match ban. But it's inconceivable that the linesman didn't see it: the flag was dashed from his hands and he had to go and get it back FFS. Edited by chateauferret (11 Mar 2018 2.37pm)

The disallowed goal was down to total incompetence by the ref. The Niasse incident was total incompetence by the same ref. He should p*ss off to Sunday league football.
