This...

And I've met many devoted Palace fans over the years in many countries who started off as "tourists"

I think you all know what i am aiming at.
The Spanish guy at the game, great, he enjoyed himself.
I've seen loads of scandinavian guys, germans and even the Korea cheerleaders on Monday night, enjoying themselves and getting involved.

I was pointing out that at least 20 people around me on Monday sat and didn't even stand when we scored!

I brought my aussie cousin earlier this year who is actually a chelsea fan (poor fella). He came to Bournemouth and Watford and now has gone back to Aus with a palace scarf, and kit firmly one of the palace faithful.

He also went to Stamford Bridge for a champions league game, Nou Camp, Wembley for a spuds game and sat with the Dortmond Ultras during his visit to Europe.

Out of that lot, he now knows what an atmosphere is all about.

I just don't want to lose that special soulness about Selhurst. I am not turning tourists away, merely saying if you're here, enjoy it and dont get in my way during the match taking selfies of the oppo.

Thinking about it, these folk were most definitely Manure fans.

There's palacd fans all around the ground who sit down and dont join in the singing etc, not just tourists. There ate two guys dot near me every game who dont ding and ehen we score jist stay sitting and clap. Everyone watches and enjoys the game in their own way, and thats fine. Would love to see everyone singing and cheering, but it just doesn't happen.

A perfect example of 'Yours Truly' but I have been a devout supporter of our team since the 60s and followed us at many away grounds.

Of course I will raise my voice from time to time and bellow out words of encouragement but where I sit the multitudes are not engaged in a mass 'Sing-a-long' so I would feel somewhat isolated ! I readily admit that in bygone days I joined the 'Chorus' but at present I still support the team with gusto without actually contributing to the singing.I also admit to having a jolly good moan and forcefully expressing my displeasure but without resorting to foul and abusive language!

Palace end being full of ManUre is nothing new and something I can remember as far back as I've been going to Selhurst. I actually think it's better than it used to be i.e. not as many away fans in our end for the big matches and people tend to say something now rather than letting them celebrate as in former years. This is my experience anyway.

Don't have an issue with tourists turning up, would rather palace fans but as said, better than nothing.

My problem is that I was in the AW, X stand and there were a bunch of americans who had turned up and seemed more interested in manure.

If you turn up as a tourist, support the home team, simple as.

Thats the thing that irks me a little, I know it really shouldnt. For all the many saying they are all potential Palace fans the reality is, in the main they are there to either experience the PL or see the opposition. When they all stand facing the opposition with their phones out in our 'home' section without any interest in our team it annoys me.

I remember a couple of them in our end going up to celebrate the first Man U goal in the 1990 cup final (the one where we got a paltry 11,000 or so tickets, so I didn't see many others in our end). They sat down pretty sharpish when the were inundated with a shower of burgers and hot dogs!

I don't in any way condone violence at football matches, far from it but you stand in the home end and cheer when your team scores as an away fan and then manage to sell your tale of woe. the bloke is lucky he didn't get battered and likely would have if he'd done it anywhere other than Arsenal. the biggest surprise is that a national paper actually ran with this non story.

He's in the wrong end so can be ejected if the stewards wish.

What I hate about that story is that the pillock seems to think he's in the right. If you go in the home end, which I have at times, you either keep quiet or you have a good look around you to ensure that if you do celebrate you are not going to get abused.

By making any sort of noise in the home end at Arsenal, he was always going to stick out.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Exactly. A bit of common sense please! It's tantamount to "tourist gets mugged in Brazilian Favela" Honestly cant believe the paper paid this berk for his story.
