But,in answer to previous poster saying religious clashes are a curse in our world, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot & Stalin were not motivated by religion and are among the worst mass-murderers of all time; the issue is surely humans and their tendency towards acts of selfishness, tribalism and cruelty. That's what I tend to believe anyway.

I think you'll find that Hitler was a little peeved with the Jewish.

Wish our very own Christian up front would stop thinking about others all the time.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

i'll spell this out again in case it wasn't clear.

People who profess hate are not Christians.

They may go to church, they may recite the Bible, they may claim to have seen God, they may claim to do good works of whatever kind, but if they hate, they are not Christians.

That is because Jesus Christ taught us that hate is wrong.

Hate is not compatible with being a Christian (or with following most other religions), Hate is the work of the Devil. They can dress it up however they want, but if the hate, they are following the Devil. Not Christ.

The world is full of soi-disant Christians who justify hate, bigotry, racism, homophobia, aggression, theft, even murder, by reference to God. They are not Christians. They may say they are, but they are not.

If you are a Christian, you do not hate anyone.

I appreciate the sentiment but tha is a 'no true Scotsman' fallacy......Jesus didn't exactly like the money lenders in the temple now did he?

Jesus's message is mainly about love....I concede that....but 'hate' is in there too.

He also implicitly said that if you hoard and love money you are going to hell......I'm not sure that a sentence that condemns someone to an eternity of hellfire is exactly being nice......It renders words like 'hate' to be meaningless.....I mean you support the torture of someone for eternity?

Also Jesus supported the splitting up of families based upon whether they would believe in him or not.

That one comment alone has caused much harm and hate.

Hate and love are perfectly normal emotions to have. Somehow, if you have the first you can't be a Christian. This is called religious logic.

is highly hypocritical to say that Jesus gives people a positive self-image if he also tells them they deserve to be tortured forever.

His wise all seeing, father who decided to have his own son, a 'good man' by all accounts, brutally tortured and murdered so that 'bad' people could be let of their crimes?
Is something you have to believe in if you're a Christian.
The answer is that if a loving caring divine god loves us all and wants us to be forgiven there are many different ways that this can be achieved. An you don't havet to be a rocket scientist/ divine being to figure it out!!!Why insist on a bloodthirsty Crucifixion first?

God (who doesn't exist)clearly is a hateful, sadistic tyrant.

Of course we all feel negative emotions. That's a different thing from the kind of continuous prejudice and fear that drives bigotry, which is what I am talking about here. The kind of idiot that says things like "God said buggery is a sin therefore I as a Christian won't have a poofter in my house". It's quite different from say not liking someone because he calls you names.

All the hate I seem to see on here is coming from the atheists.

Jesus on the Cross said to the robber hanging next to him, "This day shalt thou be with Me in Paradise".

It was Man who chose to put Him there. (Lots of atheists think Christians think God determines everything; actually, Man has free choice to follow His will or not).
