I'm even thinking of players like Richard Shaw, he wasn't ever seen as a big player like molby, and yet his thighs were like the hind legs of a water buffalo.

the muscles around his knees would've taken all the collision and unlike wilf he'd have played on the other night.

Ever see the size of Coleman's calves? Huge.

Hodgson has been 'overplaying' some players because we don't have enough quality in the squad to rotate without sacrificing our competitive edge, thus surrendering points, which we can't afford to do. I reckon Hodgson was prepared to lose a few players to niggling injuries for the sake of points but must now surely change his strategy as more injuries will undoubtedly cost us points. That's how I see it anyway

It's all getting a bit homo-erotic round here

Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot.

what I will say to that is, look at the body types compared to 10 years back or 20. John Barnes, Jan Molby, Micky Quinn, none of them would get a run out now.

the physiques have changed in tandem with the speed of the game being increased. so now the types of injuries are changing or perhaps being much more common placed.

Very interesting observations mattau. Not sure where it takes us moving forward.

How does Sako fit into this body type argument?

Any muscular, tendon, hamstring type injuries will have a link to preparation and conditioning and thus may be related to 'the medical staff'. Impact and accident can't be avoided.

End of.

I'm not. What I've actually said is they now look to develop lean muscle mass 'like' cyclists & track athletes.

The new pitches could be a factor in the ankle/knee injury problems they seem less forgiving when landing from jumps.

This. There's no give on the ground at all, plus the thin 'ponsy' boots they wear these days seem to be more a fashion statement than giving any sort of protection to the foot/ankle.
