The dignified way that the erudite luminary JRM dealt with the situation says everything about him.

Video you won't see in the right wing media. It would appear that Mogg was talking to a protester who was then attacked from behind by the guy in the white shirt. Attacked?! Well that was a bit of an anti climax

There’s a difference between free speech and freedom to shout insults so loudly that no one can hear each other speak or engage in any form of debate. They’re stifling any form of debate. They should have been told to shut up, sit down, listen and ask questions at the end. If they didn’t choose to, security should have removed them though no doubt they would have claimed this would be “anti-free speech” rather than anti-meaningless shouting and released some form of edited video which would probably go viral and encourage other idiots to shout. Corbyn should come out and condemn this sort of anti-social behaviour, but he won’t.

See I personally wouldn't go about it in the way they did, but... Do you actually believe that they pose a serious threat to free speech to a man who writes regularly in the Telegraph, appears almost weekly on BBC politics discussion forums, and as we speak is given a free airing by numerous radio and television shows to give his side of the story to hundreds of thousands of listeners? I value free speech, but to my mind we should be fighting to protect it for imported labourers working on contracts which prohibit them speaking out about their conditions, or women forced in to sex work who can't go to the police. Worrying that a hereditary Tory MP who lives in a castle doesn't have sufficient space to air his views is South Park level of farcical. So your approach to free speech is that people whom you support can speak freely but Tories cannot? Smacks of fascism.

This, JRM comes out of this really well. I despair that protestors from either political wing have failed to learn the lessons of Ghandi and Dr King. The most powerful images and arguments I have ever seen are quiet respectable black people sitting at the food counter being dragged from their seats by police with barking dogs. Those images did more to convince white people of the injustice of the Jim Crow laws than some in your face snarling protestor will ever do. King and Ghandi understood to win your argument you make the other guy over react.

Noisy lefty/identity politics idiots displaying what they are best at. Embarrassing themselves. Some not even brave enough to show their faces.
