Yeah I thought the same, almost sounded as if he'd written him off from the squad. Which is fair enough, but didn't think he had to say it. Was almost slightly rude...

I think what Roy meant was that we had taken 18 players to the West Ham game and Delaney was the only player who was fit that couldn't go, due to only being able to take a certain amount of subs.

That would make sense if he hadn’t said just before that ‘we had nineteen players plus delaney’? Then Sako got injured and ‘we now have 18 players + delaney’.

To be fair Roy said the exact opposite regarding Sørloth.
He said he now has 1 month to get fit, unless they need him on the field. Meaning that he will play him only if forced to.
Even though I think he will give him 10-15 mins

Interesting. On the thread entitled ‘Squad’, posters seem to be saying exactly the opposite.

Apart from that I agree that this could be the team and bench in terms of personnel. Will he go 4-3-3 though or 4-5-1?

He meant the same 18 as we named against the scum on Tuesday, with the proviso that Soerloth replaces Sako, and as well as those 18 we also have Delaney (actually we also have a number of younger players too).

Delaney's role is the one Jedinak used to do, which is debriefing those culpable of ghastly howlers when they come off.

It's not that clear cut after TFM's performance on Tuesday, which was awful. Both have played good games this season and both have had stinkers. I would probably stick with TFM for his pace, though.

I really don't see a great deal of options right now if the Benfica lad isn't ready. I would bring Cabaye in for Sako and have Sorloth on the bench. I know it seems harsh on Kelly, but if Sakho is fit then I would switch those two. Kelly has done well, but Sakho has a bigger presence and pushes us up the pitch. Other than that I would keep it the same.

Roy may need to toss a coin on those two. The Beast must return ASAP. Was hoping to see him against the Spammers. Him and Tomkins work well in my opinion.
