The thug Zabaleta man marked him for a lot of the match which he hates and when he got out wide they surrounded him. I agree he has looked out of sorts last couple of matches but as has been said on here, suck in players and lay the ball off if you are going to be triple marked

I don't know why we didn't switch him to the other side!

He's played as a striker for maybe 4 or 5 games but not in the last 3. That aside, when he first came to the club his natural position was as a 'number 10' so you could say playing him on the wing is playing him out of position.

Bottom line is we're a different team with Wilf playing, whether he plays well or not..we'd be down by now without him. He does like a sulk but bearing in mind he's usually kicked black and blue and gets no protection from any refs cos he only plays for little old Palace, you can understand that somewhat. He does need to lay the ball off into the space he creates more effectively though.

Roy told him to ease off till February 1st so no-one makes us an offer we can’t refuse, then reak havoc till the end of the season

Is it just me, or is Wilf been completely off the boil at the minute. I'm not sure if its because we as a fanbase hold him to such high standards, but the past 5 or 6 games he's been non existent. Fails to release the ball after beating players (which is so frustrating), going over too easily at times (granted not always), and his general end product has been below par. Perhaps its been compounded by Andros' recent form, but for me Wilf seems to be shot of confidence, and definitely not the player he was last season.

I agree he’s been off the boil the last few games but on the whole he has been tremendous this season, his best yet.

Yesterday, in my opinion, was his worst performance of the season. Got crunched by Collins and Zabeleta early on and didn’t want to know after that. He often had 3 men on him, which a credit to him, but was unable to capitalise by making use of the extra space that created by passing.

Frustrating game yesterday which we should have really won considering West Ham’s injuries. We were cruising until the Sako injury.

he needs to grow up and fast yes he will be targeted but smart thinking and without beating all 11 players release the ball early football is a simple game pass and go,for those that remember a player called George Best was kicked from pillar to post he didnt stay sitting on the ground crying he got up and run at them again and them guys was trying to break his legs

Wilf is entitled to a quiet spell after almost 3 years of good-excellent performances. Coincides with the double page witch hunt conducted against him. Coincidence? You tell me.
Yes he has been quiet and when he is he starts to totally overdo the tricks and the pleading/moaning. He's trying too hard at the moment, but he will hit form again soon I'm sure.

Bring him on after 15-20 minutes it might balls up the other team's marking long enough for him to actually do something and maybe he'll have more energy at the end of the match? Not ideal I know but not the most terrible idea in the world.

What a defeatist attitude! Not play our best player because he's not good enough to play...by all means if you really believe that. I don't.

Its simple. Wilf has just run out of gas. He has flogged himself to death for us this season. On FA Cup 5th round weekend hopefully he and the boys will get a chance to recharge their batteries for the run in

He literally had 3 players around him every time he got the ball last night. Player like Wilf you have to take the odd bad game when he can produce what he can.

seems like the OP has just listened to what the commentator was saying on the match last night & paraphrased it on here...maybe he could get a job at the racist mail taking photots of “celebritys” out shopping & call it news.

like you said hes been triple marked quite a lot recently, during our promotion season we went thru a space of 7/8 games where that happened every week aswell and it freed up space

i fully expect him to continue taking the piss again for the final 3rd of the season, if wilf didnt have quiet spells here & there he would be playing alongside messi or ronaldo.
