I recall the 'Palace Dollies' ! Quite a few of the Dollies played for Crystal Palace Ladies. Sue Head was involved with the A team. As a teenager I played for the B team which went on to become Penge Ladies. In those days the ladies teams were completely separate from the club and received no sponsorship. Money was so tight that I remember 10 of us cramming into the manager's (Alan Hazelton) Morris Oxford to travel to an away game. Then we'd pile into the pub for a quick pint before playing. How times change!

A thread starts up on this subject every couple of years. The girls design their own costumes and make up their own routines. Everybody primarily goes to Selhurst to watch the football. I have no doubt that a few people have some weird thoughts when the girls are dancing, but equally there are probably a few people who have the same thoughts about the players. I think the girls and players can live with it.

Was talking about this yesterday. They may be ok as they dance where as the darts girls and boxing ring girls just walk about . But I am sure it won't be long before there are suggestions of getting rid of them or making them wear tracksuits
When I was a young girl my Mother said to me.. You listen here kid you're CPFC |

Furthermore 'Gentlemens Evenings' and organised 'Hen Parties' will be outlawed as well.No more 'Stripagrams' etc etc. We are witnessing the 'Thin end of the wedge' with insidious activity order of the day.

How can you 'ban' a hen party and a hen party is arranged by women, for said women and enjoyed by them. Shame pit lane girls will go at some point.

Some of the 'Hen Parties' involve male strippers and I have heard of one which had a 'Butler in the buff'. If we chaps are banned from looking at cavorting women then surely women will be banned from similar activities involving males.Or will it just be one-way ?

Its easy to over-react when someone raises an issue like this, and they are fairly harmless (if a bit OTT in my opinion - I'd do away with all the music and suchlike and just let the atmosphere build naturally, but others feel differently and that's fair enough). The real issue of course is whether it is sexist or suchlike to have dancing girls at what remains a largely male audience event. I don't think it is, but I did find it difficult to explain the Crystals to my 10 year old daughter when I took her to a game, and would rather that she, and others, become lifelong fans than have the Crystals.
