So the Benfica manager has basically said he doesn't think he'll add anything to his team so we're signing him?

Really not getting this one.

Looking at him on YouTube looks like a very attacking midfielder, very quick, possibly a good no.10....something we've been missing for a long time. Low risk loan, worth a gamble.

Not bizarre.

RLC injured, Cabaye only capable of 60-70 mins. Zero redundancy in midfield.

A loan is a cost-effective way of plugging an urgent gap. Plus the lad might be very good.

If he is signed on loan, looks to me like a good move

Exactly. If Cabaye is going to play every game to the end of the season then we need to rest him as much as possible as well. Looks like this lad could be a nice option to bring on. Or do we assume Benfica gave him a five year deal because he's crap?

One assumes that they thought he was good enough to be a long term investment but want him to get more experience for this season. He looks a good squad addition.

As long as he comes in with the right attitude it could be a useful bit of business that keeps funds available for other targets.

Especially if he is seen as a replacement for a 2nd or 3rd choice player e.g. Puncheon.

Looks imminent if a little mystifying to me

Obviously being signed as a short term fix for RLC. Not 100% sure whats weird about that?

Means our funds are saved for the positions we need to strengthen. IE Keeper and Striker. Imagine we might do something similar for a defender.
