He organised us defensively of course, we ceded possession, but he found the best way for us to attack - get the ball as quick as poss to the wingers, and by identifying our most skillful player, Marouane Chamakh, a non-scoring striker, and turning him into a 'number 10' - the football was not boring or route one, although we did basically park the bus and break quickly.

But he took WBA here two seasons back, they sat back did nothing and were ok for an hour b4 we won 2-0. They were dog food but a 0-0 draw and you can justify it, but if you play with no ambition and lose it's unnacceptable for watching fans esp if they've travelled. I went to the Hawthorns last season when we won 2-0 and their team did seem to consist of 30-something navvies who played horrible football. So it's a mixed picture - his football is not all like it was at Stoke, he is a sophisticated intelligent coach, he knows what he's doing and generally buys well. Good choice for you I'd say - he'll get you up if not this year then next year you'll be one of the favourites, and he can keep you up once you get promoted - so it won't be for a fair few seasons that any grumblings will start, already a great win at Preston, so it looks a positive move.

In a way we got lucky. We had him for long enough that he could sort us out, but not so long that he got his signings in too significantly.

We were a team that played on flair and pace, so he had to play with that. As soon as we wanted Zaha, he wasn't interested. Interesting to note where Pulis and Zaha are both now respectively.

He'll do a good job for you. You'll be difficult to beat and provided you've already got some talented players, the football will be fine because he'll have to use it.

That said, I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised if your summer signings included Chris Brunt, Fraizer Campbell, Damien Delaney, and that you then picked up Joey Barton after his ban.

As a bloke, terrible.

I really enjoyed his time at the club - didn't he get Manager of the Season?
I was also shocked and pissed off when he left as I thought he'd give us some stability.

He was never really one to talk about 'Us' and seemed a bit distant from the club but I'll always be grateful for the way he took a very poor squad and made us look like we belonged in the Premiership.

I find it hard to dislike him - whereas I can't stand the little ferret-faced Ian Holloway.

he organized us and got every drop of what we could be out of us. I think he was very lucky that he had no real choice except to build a team -- offensively at least -- around Bolasie.

if you look at his career, I'm not sure he trusts flair players who do loads of tricks but he had to with Bolasie and it worked.

So he ends up going with sensible and eventually his teams maybe stagnate -- that's what I think happened at stoke and wba anyway.

but if you're disorganised he'll improve you a lot and you'll not be a soft touch if he can get you up.

I'm no fan of him as a man.

I crossed paths with thus bloke on two occasions. I lived in Gillingham and knew quite a few people who worked at the club. Pullis was seen as a professional.,hard character, but he left under a cloud amid suggestions of inappropriate behaviour towards the staff, players and family there. Not much came out, so I'm wary of talking about things I don't know, only what those who worked with him said. Could be a load of bollux, but he left under a cloud after doing a great job with Gillingham, higher than they have ever been.
Then the Palace situation. He came, he saw and he
Left before he could do anything else. There's no point in the op having opinions about his 'bonus'. A court of law settled that. But he certainly knows his stuff and Palace developed a back-bone that served them well after he left. He is obviously a man of his word because he must have said to our chairman what he wanted from the market for the team and threatened if he didn't get what he wanted he would go, irrespective of timing. And go he did.
Could he have managed a Wilf? He knows more about systems and defence I suppose. Will he have the flair to take a well drilled team that little bit further, to gain promotion? I'm not so sure. But in a play-off game you get nowhere with a 0-0 result.
Good luck Macka.

Decent manager who will organise you well defensively. Likes to play four central defenders across the back and 2 holding midfielders that aren’t allowed to go forwards.

He likes his striker to do a LOT of closing down. He used Cameron Jerome who barely scored but did a lot of running. On the TV you could sometimes hear TP’s dulcet tones imploring him to ‘ROOOOOON CAM’, and Jerome would always respond, because that was the only way he would get Premier League football. A small vignette of life under Pulis.

I don’t have any hatred towards him, but as others have said he is somewhat calculating.

He did a great job in making us hard to beat and Dann and Ledley were very good signings in his first window but there was a period when when looked as good as down and he lucked a bit on the form of a couple of individuals.

Not sure he’ll set out to win enough games to get automatic promotion but, contrary to the above, would hate to play against one of his sides in the play offs.

Loves tall players and absolute slag of a bloke. Have a google about his departure from Stoke. Very interesting article about this on the Guardian pages if it’s still there.

It would be difficult to judge him this season, but he could get you back in the PL the following year with a few additions to your squad. I thought it was a strange move for him taking the Boro job, as it is a step down for him, but then again he most probably never thought he would get the sack from WBA.... Good luck!
