Can't believe he's still only 27. This is exactly the sort of signing we should be looking at - proven quality, not going to break the bank, an upgrade on Townsend which means we then have him as cover on the wings, and can also play as a striker. This would be a fantastic piece of business.

I remember we came close to doing the deal in January, but I read that we left him waiting at the important at the last minute. As some people have said already, this is exactly who we should look to sign. International quality, Premier League experience, shouldn't break the bank and young enough to have a resale value if we were to go down. On the basis that RLC isn't coming back and we look to keep our options open in terms of team shape, this puts Townsend in the void the RLC leaves behind and Wilf partnering Schurrle upfront. I really hope this one happens loan or permanent...

This would be a massive signing for us, and I agree it is not out of the question. We would need to move fast as I am sure other clubs like West ham and Everton will come sniffing.
