£75m for a slightly better than average central defender. I thought the fees paid for Stones and Keane were ridiculous, but now the world has finally gone mad. Something needs to change in football and quickly.

You asked me in a previous thread if I was being serious when I said 20 million was too cheap for Tomkins in today's market . Now you now I was being serious and now you know why.

You gotta admire Southampton. This'll take it up to £200mill they have taken off the scousers in recent seasons.

This got me thinking about Wilfs value, before this I thought he was worth £45 - £55 million but surely he's got to be worth north of £75mill! A year younger than Van Dijk, way more premier league experience and is far more important to us than Van Dijk was to Southampton.

Given their defensive woes in the 2nd half last night I'm not sure if Van Dijk was more valuable than it seems. On the second goal, both Andros and Mili were in acres of space. However, I agree that Wilf, who is a playmaker and goal producer, is far more valuable than Van Dijk, Quite frankly, this transfer may be a total waste of money.

F***ing dreadful tonight. £75m for that, seriously? It would be bad enough if all he had to do was boot the ball out of his own box from time to time but he couldn't even manage that. Gave a goal away then bimbled around near the half-way line for the rest of the game and occasionally hoofed the ball into Row Z.

What a lovely word... bimbled... is that something you've picked up north of the border Ferret?
