Think Roy himself will have a say on this matter - when he consider retiring! I hope he does have a say - we would be stupid to ignore his opinion
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

Why is it stupid to start a conversation? Shame you had to take time from your valuable day to respond. No need to be rude - just ignore it It’s a ridiculous thread. Any excuse to start a topic. It’s pointless, it’s null. We should be thinking about plans WITH Roy, not planning for his retirement already. The bloke comes in changes things and people are talking about what to do when he’s gone. Could be 3 years yet, how are we supposed to predict what happens between now and then.

I personally would love to see Graham Potter as Hodgson's successor.

Tricky one got me.hopefully toy will take us to z mid table team, so we should really be looking for a top manager to take over from him when he decides to leave. But your not going to get a top manager to be Roy's 'apprentice' and it would be a huge gamble to get an inexperienced younger person to work alongside him and then take over.

No it is quite a valid thread. Roy may simply decide to retire like BS did, rushing about the country at 70+ will take its toll, not to mention his nervous system !!!! If there was someone in place to take over, after being his assistant perhaps for a while, that would make sense. Jedi would be a good choice IMO if interested. Why? He might be a clueless coach/manager.I'd rather Lewington take over than any former Palace player with no managerial experience.I really don't get this obsession with ex Palace becoming managers and coaches purely for the fact they played for us.Yeah in a perfect world we would have a club run, managed and coached all by Palace people but whats the chances of that many people being excellent at their jobs?

With respect you are wrong. We had no warning when BS suddenly retired and that left a vacuum leading to FDB's appointment seemingly in desperation. Far better to have a plan and Parish will no doubt be working with Roy this time after what happened with BS. Although BS lied it wasn't retirement he just wanted out.

This is a forum - i am entitled to start a thread - you are entitled to skip by it to the next one. I am concerned that Roy may only want to deal with the stress of PL management for another season after this one. I doubt I am the only one who thinks about the future of the club. Its certainly not ridiculous - I do not start threads on a regular basis but as a supporter for nearly 50 years I am allowed an opinion which you can disagree with but please don't say its stupid and ridiculous.

It’s ridiculous. In the spirit of pantomime - oh no it isn't - its an opinion - just like all the speculation about who might be bought and sold in the transfer window - all peoples opinions which they are entitled to.
