More angry with Dann and Luka TBH. Strikers are greedy and want to score goals, i can see how he wanted the pen, what i cant see is how anyone allowed it to happen. And Roy saying 'no one could wrestle the ball off him'. What bollocks. I recall games where similar rows have gone on, where the other party has just marched over and had it out, blaring rows at times. What did they do? Naff all. Pair of pussies.

Totally agree...
Why didn't someone just have the balls to say "look mate, history shows you're crap at taking penalties, move away from the ball and let the man who has just smashed one in the net, do it again...there's a good fellow!!
Complete joke!!!!!!

The anger towards Benteke is clear. Maybe its a blessing in disguise the next game is coming around so quickly.

Walking along singing his song, walking in a Benteke wonder-la....

too soon

I wouldn't be surprised if he starts on Tuesday, and I hope he isn't given grief by the crowd as that is the last thing he or the team needs.

You could argue that his decision to step in to take the penalty was arrogance but perhaps it was the act of a player desperate to make his mark after his string of uninspiring performances since his return from injury.

If he had scored we would no doubt be praising his courage and bravery. Sadly his effort was a tame shot. And yes, perhaps Dann as captain should have had the strength of character to say no to Benteke and had it to Luka.

To be clear; my anger - expressed earlier in this thread - is directed collectively, not specifically at CB. Only here could such a farce occur.

Of course he can. I think running after the ball and actually trying would be the first steps..

Never thought I would ever say this but i'm actually looking forward to Wickham returning.

Pencilled in for 2021 when he'll be 37

If Kuqi can, a man with actual talent can too.

It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I think he will start on Tuesday ( I'm not saying he should). I think Roy will say "get out there take the jeers and boos and prove them wrong". Roy will hope that he rises to the occasion and puts in his best 90 minutes for Palace.

Even if he doesn't score he needs to put himself about, chase lost causes and really lead the line. If he does that maybe we will take to him again. If his first touch is loose, he misplaces his first pass or skies a shot then the fans will start to boo and it may be (even more) diwnhill from there.

If I was his advisor and he has a Twitter account, I would be saying make an apology for the penalty on Saturday. Explain that it was well intentioned and that you did not mean to put yourself ahead of the team. Say that you will be returning 100% determined to make up for it and again are sorry for not winning palace two precious extra points.

If that happened then he would get a better reception on Tuesday and have the chance to turn a huge negative into something resembling a positive.

I agree with this. Roy cannot afford to bench him. So I hope he gives him the "you got us into this mess speech"

Needs to play until January but to be stripped of any authority. I'm not saying assign a penalty taker because we clearly already have but I mean make it clear that there are 10 other players on the pitch who can call rank before Benteke. If he does it again fine 2 weeks wages.

See if he sulks his way through to January or starts proving himself. If it's the latter then bonus. More likely is we just keep within touching distance of safety.

Then Parish, don't you dare go counting your pennies, wondering if you'll save 50k if you wait until January 31st. You go out and sign 2 strikers on January 2nd at the bloody latest. Prove you've learned from your mistakes. F your new stadium.
