Just to throw a spanner in the works. If you look at the penalty of Beneteke (if you can stomach watching it again) you will see that two Bournemouth players actually encroach into the penalty area before the kick is taken. According to the rules, the kick should have been retaken (not that I would have been confident of Benteke scoring even if it was retaken). Another cock-up by the ref and assistant.

I'm surprised they weren't pi**ing themselves laughing. I've lost count of the times I've seen this and refs either never ser it or else bottle the decision. Of course with a competent penalty taker the ball generally goes in the net so it's usually attackers encroaching that's not spotted.

I think the last player pulled up for encroachment was Dwight Gayle in his Palace days!

Well spotted, encroachment doesn't often get called but should be so you are bang on. Unfortunately you are bang on that he would have missed again. Here's a question for the ref buffs out there. If a penalty has to be retaken, can it be retaken by a different player?

A wicked thought - officials are a team of four. The elite team of four (able to spot good and bad body movement) will soon be free. Just imagine the Strictly Judges commenting on some of the series tackles inflicted on Palace players during the course of a match. COYP

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |
