A lot of younger Palace fans hate Brighton because it's the done thing,if you're a palace fan, you have to hate Brighton, even if you don't know what's it's really about because you're too young to have been wrapped up in it all back in the 70's and early 80's, but I suppose that just about covers every football rivalry in world football

This Brighton is not the Brighton of those days, obviously different team, different ground, the mayhem of the past is history, as someone previously said, it's all handbags now and the police have things well sewn up.

I've never heard of most of brightons team these days because in modern football players come and go so quickly, their not around long enough to grow to hate them. As a young lad the likes of Peter Ward, Brian Horton and Steve Foster were around for a few years and we hated them, especially that c*** Brian Horton!! Lol

I have no idea how the rivalry started, but I do quite enjoy games with that extra bit of 'edge'.

Brighton fans are just like any others, all sets of supporters have a small group of thwats.

Brighton(the city) has gone downhill over the last 15 years. Round-about the time Chris Eubank and Zoe Ball moved there. Then it attracted the money, parking then became difficult and expensive, shop and hotel prices started increasingly rapidly. Then the place turns into something else on weekend evenings when bouncers are outside most of the pubs and clubs and the streets become full of drunken hen and stag groups.

But at least the Palace Pier is still there

I disengage, I turn the page.

Hope this works. Mullery came in as Allison was leaving us, but with Venables being his disciple and the two not being best buds it just continued from there.

Superb to watch cheers. Didn't realise Big Mal shopped at Sports Direct.

Thought a young Mullery acquitted himself well in fairness.

Allison went on to prove to be a dick at Man City. He p1ssed a load of money on Steve Daley and Ray Ranson. Also remember Garry Owen doing some exclusive in the one of the tabloids where he said Allison made him run around in training carrying weights coz his neck was too short.

Yes, it is a good watch isn't it? Imagine that being done nowadays?
Allison was always trying to be innovative and he was definitely a maverick. Don't think you can call him a dick cos some signings didn't work. That happens to all managers. Bar the current man at City, many of their older fans cite Mercer and Allison as the best they ever had.

True enough. I only started going in 76 when I was 9yrs and interest stimulated by the cup run so probably have Big Mal to thank (or blame depending how you look at it).

Straight into these Palace! Thank f*** the team has recovered from being De Boer'd and are now scoring again and getting the best of Wilf, Cabaye and RLC. Would have been so gutted if we went down there without any fight in us. Now, I'm letting myself be a bit confident. They'll be a tough team to break down and Murray will want to prove a point but 4 years in this league should count for something. Plus, y'know, Wilf.

So pleased the players are told about the rivalry straight away when coming here and they seem to get it. You can bet the likes of Sakho will love being involved.

I"m too young to of seen the fighting between the 2 sets of fans in the 70"s & 80"s but I do still hate them!

Personally I hate c***wall & Clowntown more because of their proximity & their scummy supporters although a lot of the Brightbum fans are not far behind them!

To non Palace & Brightbum fans people don"t understand why there is so much hatred between the clubs & it is a strange rivalry considering they are not a local team. Because of this it is not being shown live on tv on Tuesdsy which is a shame & I will have to listen to it on the radio.
