At SP I thought it was all on Jules but watching on MOTD Dann had time and options and a PL level player should deal with that comfortably. 50/50.

Irrelevant the time Dann had on the ball. Jules never in a million years should have even contemplated passing a ball straight through the middle of the park like that. Never fcuck about in front of your own 18 yard box at any time during the game.

Sorry but in my opinion a total and utter bollock dropped by Jules.

Yes. Given there were a matter of seconds to half time Speroni should have put the ball in row Z. Clearly an error of judgement from Jules and he would know that.

All Dann has to do is pass it on, or kick it. He got mugged and no offence to him but at this level he should be able to take a touch and either pass it or if necessary put his foot through it.

He lots his composure and melted and got mugged.

JS should be able to make that pass at the top level of english football and expect an experienced CB to deal with it.

If the pass had been to Ward then God almighty he'd be getting lynched but Dann doesn't get called out over it and the blame is with JS. Hoof it as our CB is s***....

Bolloxs Dann should have been able to deal with it. It wasn't a bad pass... He didn't sell him short, and Dann had enough time to deal with it. He melted...

Because there are people on here with an agenda against him. That’s all I’ll say on the matter.

Speroni got carried away. Having wrong-footed the in-rushing Niasse in front of the Holmesdale, he thought he'd be even cleverer and pass the ball out coolly rather than just booting it. He was grand=standing. Not Dann's fault - he quite understandably wasn't expecting such a stupid pass when there was no pressure on the keeper.

Agreed more like 90% of the blame, played a poor pass into the centre of the pitch, whilst he was on the edge of his area, giving him little chance if the ball was lost.

Hindsight is the best football skill in the world. His mishap doesn’t detract from his actual ability when called into action in goal though

Nothing to do with hindsight he made a huge c*ck up. I think 90% is being generous. Dann never called for the ball so the mistake was wholly down to Speroni trying to be clever rather than belting it down field.

In hindsight, he probably wouldn’t have done that. But in real-time he can keep balls out with very good reflexes. See what I’m getting at? The butterfly effect will always exist. But if you’ve got the reflexes to stop danger from happening then you’ve got a worthy skill to stamp it out.
In the medical world they say that people don’t lose their lives because of one mistake. It’s because of a succession of mistakes. That goal on the weekend can be likened to that. But apart from that Jules did a fine job doing what he does well.

I am sure with your depth knowledge of goalkeeping, you appreciate having good reflexes and stopping the odd shot, isn't what is expected of a premiership goalkeeper anymore. There are many more facets to the position now, which Jules just hasn't adapted too.
Being the last line of defence is an unforgiving position as Hennessey has also found himself in, your generous nature doesn't extend to him.

So very true Painter. I’ve never disagreed with this view. Just known that a square peg never fits into a round hole no matter how much you try and jam it in.
