Jules should have just launched it or played it to sakho on the left, I agree Dann cocked up too but you don’t play into them areas where he’s under pressure. So frustrating though wasn’t it! So easily avoided.

motd highlights were no reflection on the game . The second half in particular showed all of Evertons attacks and didn't give the impression they were very lucky to go home with a point . The pen was a joke , at the time I thought it was soft but on seeing it on tv I'm just so disappointed that the ref was so easily had by the cheat that is Niasse .

In fairness to Jules, he didn’t know how many more minutes the ref would play. What if he had blootered the ball upfield and Everton had won it and launched a goal-scoring attack? There would have been no end of flak on this forum. He obviously thought the best thing was to try and keep us in possession. It was the right approach but unfortunately the gambit backfired with dire consequences. It wasn’t a goalkeeping error - just a misjudgement. We’re all capable of them.

So frustrating though wasn’t it! So easily avoided. That is apparently what he was instructed to do seeing as there was no Benteke on the pitch. I know footballers have to use their own imagination sometimes. But they are drilled and drilled in training to do what the management tell them. So while yes we can aportion some of the blame for the goal on Jules. You have to look at Dann as well who would have had it drilled into him to be ready to accept those balls all game and know what to do with them once he had accepted it. It was also not so much a goalkeeping era as a bad outfield pass. His goal keeping and shot saving were decent again yesterday with some lovely reflex saves. He’s in goal at least until Jan and beyond if we don’t manage to find a reasonable replacement. And he and the team are doing much better since the change in goal has taken place. It was maybe not the best decision by Jules, but Dann chose to try and turn before playing the ball, which given he didn't know what was behind him seems a poor choice. Basically two poor choices for which we were penalised.

Reminiscent of his debut for us, ironically against Everton
