This post has been merged from a topic called 'Big Sam' by Midlands Eagle I think he's an excellent manager and it was a real loss to both England (sacked) and Palace (walked). However he seems always to be on the edge of another controversy so both England and Place are better off without him (although it doesn't seem it at the moment).
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Big Sam' by Midlands Eagle hes an old dude whose tired of taking clubs with just survival as their short term aim. Toffes maybe in the mire atm but wont be come the end, and with the new money behind them, they could change in to a force at any point. Its the biggest chance he'd ever had to win major honours as a manager. I cant say I blame him considering his age and likely life long career desires. Plus we get 2mil which is something that we need. I bare no grudges.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Big Sam' by Midlands Eagle The irony is that if he stayed and signed Sakho, a good striker and Cheek and Mensah on loan, we'd be in a decent and respectable position imo. (Sam wouldn't have signed Riedewald) But it's not knowing about Cheek and Mensah and probably Sakho or striker either that'd make most rich and ageing people think 'fvck this again' after being vulnerable to one injury or the squad's poor professional mentality and unnecessarily scraping survival with another expensive correction job if he can endure that. I didn't begrudge him coming back now and still don't. Start guaranteeing we won't enter a season half c0cked with 3-6-9-12 games written off and we might get more of that 'good luck' we don't seem to be getting.

He probably looks at our preparation and approach and feels comfortable he got out and had a long holiday to wait and see what comes up. (Everton won't repeat errors like we have x 2 or more).

I guess expecting a manager to honour a 2 year contract is just too much to hope for.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Big Sam' by Midlands Eagle I really can't see his appointment being anything other than short term. Like Pulis, he seems to know how to make teams hard to beat, fit and competitive, which will help Everton climb to safety this season; however, that won't be enough next season and that's where the problem may lie. I'm not convinced he is capable of taking a bigger club to where they want to be, but I bear no grudges against him as he left us enough time to appoint a new manager (even if we screwed that up). Obviously I would expect us to get compensation though, the same as if we'd sacked him (unless there was a break clause).

Yep. I guess expecting a manager to honour a 2 year contract is just too much to hope for. Heard that the sticking point with Everton could be the length of contract. He wants a long term deal they don't. If so doesn't sound like a manager wishing to retire from the game anytime soon.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Big Sam' by Midlands Eagle To me it sounds like another one that can't work with the interfering chairman we have, And who let us down lightly at the first opportunity, I wish him good luck as without him we would already be in the championship

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Big Sam' by Midlands Eagle Yes, it could be Willo, pick up a big fat bonus for keeping the team up, leave and then pay that money back when he starts at yet another club next season. There is a pattern emerging here. At least SP spotted it and structured the deal accordingly. We should be able to buy someone exceedingly average with that £2m
