They said this about Nottm For in Clough's last season in charge and they were relegated.

And also Leeds, West Ham in 2011 and Newcastle to name just 3

If another team had been in our current position we would all be writing them off as relegation certainties.

Because it is us in the perilous position we are just 'Clutching at straws' and trying to find a degree of positivity and optimism.

If we are, we won't be spending millions on players to try and keep us up.
In dire straits at Christmas and it will be a "Death by a thousand cuts" until our expected relegation.

No we would not because we are Palace and we shold never take anything for granted because we have seen it all. When we were fifth at Christmas that season I was still watching the bottom half as anything can happen and we nearly got sucked in. I hope all the teams take your Palace are doomed attitude as complacency is dangerous in this league.

IMO West Ham getting moyes is a huge lifeline for us, Swanseas signings haven't paid off and if West Brom really do loose their minds and sack Pulis it's tricky to see who would keep them up. So many games to play and I do think Brighton, Bournemouth and Newcastle will be pulled into the mix come the end of the season but come that final game palace will be safe as houses celebrating another season in the prem.

This next month is vital. Everton, Stoke, Brighton, West Brom. Followed by Bournemouth, watford, leicester, swansea.

24 points up for grabs. Now, it doesn't always go like we plan, but truthfully, after 5 years in the prem, we should not be fearing any of those teams and should be licking our lips thinking points.

Reality is, we are not picking up points for love nor money.

If we can't come through those 8 games with at least 15-17 points, putting everything on the line, blood, guts, glory, knowing how vital it is, not just to the fans, but to the club and it's future - if the players aren't up for it, if it doesn't work out, then we don't deserve to be in this league.

We aren’t just another team. We’re Crystal Palace and we make a career out of this type of situation.

It's difficult to see 3 teams we'll get above.

Swansea - are awful and likely to go but if Pulis goes from WBA then I see him at Swansea and thats them save.

Huddersfield - don't have enough quality but work damn hard however I do see them going down

Brighton - Going to make a good fist of it and it may well go down to the final couple of games.

WBA - If Pulis stays long enough they will be fine

Sorry to say I see us going down but making a fight of it.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

I have heard similar sentiments expressed quite a few times by our supporters.

We have a vital period coming up with games where we have more than an even chance of victory. At the present time there is a long way to go and we cling on in hope, however if it becomes patently apparent a long way from the end of the season that we are "Certainties" for relegation then the blood letting will begin and the fervent atmosphere at the ground will turn to toxicity and not just aimed at the players.Mr Parish will have to wear a tin helmet and tighten the straps.

It will really be a ghastly time for us all, including Parish and the Board and those employed at the club.
