A good number of years ago I was a member of the Labour party and canvassed on their behalf. On the whole it was a decent party that represented the interests of ordinary British working people. Now it is led and populated by crypto-communist agitprop cretins who represent the interests of various ethnic and sexual minorities and show contempt for ordinary British working people.

This is sadly very true and why I will not be voting for the foreseeable future. Corbyn and his cronies are ruining the party.

Do you remember that?

I don't doubt your position, just curious how it applied to you and influenced your choices?

What changed for you from when you were a member? Interested as to how that change appeared to you, were you directly sidelined by other groups within the party?

Best thing she ever done. Don't you remember warm, curdled milk you were forced to drink in hot summers?

Ever since my Primary days any milk I have to drink or dunk my cornflakes in has to be Arctic cold.

No, ours were always cold. You must have gone to a public school.

True. And corbyn's fraternising with the 'RA has isolated more paddies than attracted us to his beardy lunacy . In the 1970's we all voted Labour. I very much doubt it's still the case.

Quality. You sound like a cross between the Geoffrey Palmer character in Reggie Perrin and Margot Leadbetter.

I remember walking home from a branch meeting with a university educated, bearded, fellow party member discussing some of the older union oriented members – trouble is the unions are all racist he said. There was a definite divide between the older truly working class members and the younger more upwardly mobile, perhaps better educated, members. I was also active in my union at the time and was conscious of the same divide at union branch meetings – and yes, a good few in the union were more or less racist. I guess my move away from Labour was seeing Militant gaining so much influence, seeing out and out communists at meetings. Final straw was Michael Foot becoming leader. Also the irresponsibility of many of the unions with politically motivated strikes leading to job losses – led by communists (mine union was NALGO – relatively moderate, but I do recall overhearing a group of communists at conference plotting their interventions).

Where peoples politics are absurdly stark you may as well just ask, what damaged and warped your view of your fellow countrymen.
