For God sake what is it with the pathetic point scoring on here!
The guy stated a fact. It is his job to know how to administer CPR. How in Gods name does that make him a poor excuse for a human.
Trying to make yourself appear compassionate and everyone else crass? Joke

not point scoring point making you must be a friend because he is what i said, just hope you dont need your life being saved you may get the ones that dont give a dam, but that wont happen because they do care and do give a dam about life and thats not part of there training

I have been unfortunate/fortunate in having First Aid Training, and having to do CPR in real life.

It is an immeasurable stress when you have someone's life in your hands. I can't imagine the stress levels having to do that on a daily basis. Most nurses I knew in the 1990's drank and smoked shed-loads

Hope the guy came out on top

I would like to hear good news about him before the Everton game on 18th November. No news is good news.

Glad to hear they got him breathing. I was a few rows back from the incident, and feared the worst.

It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

With all the first aid/ medical support, a premier game is probably one of the best places to collapse.

This is true, we have one at work and have been told they can't be used in correctly ie someone with a pulse it wont work.

That being said i'd imagine the paramedics still had plenty to do other than just use the defibrillator.

What they don't tell you is whether they can actually be used on the casualty - there are a number of situations where using one will do more harm than good.

Had training a few years ago & just about the first thing they taught was "The device will have clear instructions however, before even preparing the device you need to carry out these checks...."

It really emphasized the importance of correct CPR which gives time to make sure all is right to proceed.

Hope the guy recovers soon.

Hope he recovers what a distressing time for all involved. The people nearby, those who helped and of course the man himself and his nearest and dearest. I am sure he will agree when he is back fighting fit an afternoon at the palace does strange things to ones heart rate (bit of gallows humour before you all start on me)

This is the 1st I've heard of it. Well done to everyone who helped, I hope he's on the mend now.

The last time I saw CPR was on a guy on the train at platform 5, East Croydon after a match last season. It's all arther distressing to see, but highlights that EVERYONE should have at least basic First Aid training.

the defibs do not give out a current if there is a heart beat, so if you have one to hand you cant make things worse, if the person heart has stopped you cant make it any worse, you never know the persons history unless you are close to them then what you do, you dont have time to make a full health history its hard very hard but you must just do CPR with what ever you have to hand. if defib is available use it if not cardiac compression, you will have to do that anyway, as first aiders thats all you have and pray, its the worse thing in life not knowing if you can save them but always try the best you can because you are giving them there best chance
