Basically, justice is only merited for people who you deem worthy. That speaks volumes about you.

Here's a fun little primer on why you are so very wrong: [Link]

Its not what he's saying, he's saying that to an extent their not coming forward help perpetuate and protect the crimes of their attacker (who's likely to be so protected by the industry that nothing will come of it anyhow).

It's fair to ask why people didn't come out before now, but manipulative types work their way into positions where they know what can get away with it. Let's see what a court of law makes of Mr Weinstein's alleged behaviour.

I do see where you're coming from and in an ideal situation, yeah but lets face it the police will probably do f**k all. Michael Jackson managed to avoid prison and the damnation of the press, despite being a child sex offender - people will still defend him to this day.

Truth is, in the US (and to a lesser extent here) money talks and in Hollywood film money talks louder than anything else. The police aren't going to do anything about an allegation that a famous movie director showed you his p****, or sexually assaulted you unless you can really prove it.

And if you do come forwards, its probably a case of never work in this town again. You don't get many breaks in Hollywood, and no doubt if you won't suck it the next girl will.

Most of these cases, don't get pursued by the police. Its a he said, she said, we don't really care and a donation to the police charity or pressure from the commissioner and the case goes away.

There are a lot of these stories waiting to come out - Especially regarding child sex offences and producers / directors etc. But the industry has been notorious for sexual exploitation for as long as its existed.

Hollywood police and LA police are notoriously protective of their primary industry.

You are right.

If anything good can come out of this....and lets face it we know this isn't anything like the only boss exploiting good looking people out there.....if anything good can happen it's that other exploiters may be exposed.

Maybe this industry can shake off some of its grime.

What I would have said to my daughter if she'd gone to one of these meetings....now that would have been interesting....but it wouldn't have focused upon protecting prospective movie careers.

If they are attacked by a person they know....and they say and do nothing about it because that man is useful to them. Then they are still victims but they have been complicit in allowing this man to continue.

So sorry that real life isn't black and white for you Ray.

That's hilarious. You are the one requiring a victim - remember, this is the person against whom the crime was perpetrated - to act in a manner hat you deem appropriate. What's more black and white than that?

I, on the other hand, accept that a victim - in this case an aspiring actress bullied into sucking a fat man's cock - might not want to talk about it because it's degrading and humiliating and disgusting. That's shade, that's nuance, that's f***ing compassion.

Maybe in prison his cellmate will ask him for a neck message.....could be a way of earning an extra biscuit.

If the victim chooses not to report the crime, it does not make them somehow retroactively at fault, or proactively at fault for a future crime. That imbues the victim with some element of fault for the crime, which is nonsense. The fault lies solely with the perpetrator.

You make that assumption. So degrading and humiliating and disgusting that they continue to interact with the man and accept his help afterwards.

So degrading and humiliating and disgusting but when the guy has been exposed....but not so degraded to highlight that he tried it on with them when it's all over the public eye.

Maybe you're correct or maybe you aren't. There is no way of knowing that.

Whatever the reality they are still complicit because independent of what emotion they felt they have allowed it to continue to happen to others.

Given how much movie stars earn, I'm not sure I'd be willing to say no, for a 20m dollar pay check on the first film, of a three movie deal.

We're talking big money, who wouldn't suck someone's cock for 20m role, and a ticket to Hollywood fame and glory. People probably get down on their knees, and imagine its just one more drunken date mistake.

Its later on that it starts to eat away at them.

So how much money has to be dangled to make sexual abuse ok?

Yep.....victims of an industry literally set up to exploit them and then throw them away....the innocent should not apply...I should imagine most of them go in eyes open.

If you are going to dance with the devil at some stage you're going to have to decide whether you take the red pill or the blue pill. The chance of millions of dollars is a hell of a pill to swallow. It's disgusting though that these guys exist taking advantage of it.

You get your Madonnas, who aggressively exploit those realities and make it work for them but it's no defence for it.

I'm glad this guy is getting what's coming for him.

Sounds like an accurate assessment. Lana Del Rey was often seen hanging on Weinstein's arm and has a song called 'f***ed my way to the top'. Her lyrics for another song make for interesting reading

"Harvey's in the sky with diamonds
And it's making me crazy
All he wants to do is party with his pretty baby

Come on baby, let's ride
We can escape to the great sunshine
I know your wife and she wouldn't mind
We made it out to the other side"

Many in powerful positions end up thinking they can have anyone they want, because frequently they are right. It likely leads to more and more questionable and beyond behaviour though, detached from norms most people live by. When the lid is publicly blown off their little world, they are reacquainted with reality.
