Interesting thread. All these moves remind me of someone playing FIFA. As I am really getting into football/soccer one of the things I appreciate is the promotion and relegation that you don't see in sports leagues in the United States. What I've been wondering is if Crystal Palace is going into the winter transfer window preparing for regulation or battling to avoid it. I really enjoy watching Sakho, so seeing him moved next summer would suck. I'm wondering if the club could afford Luan from Gremio as he is the most obvious savior I see. He could also go out wide left and fit well with Benteke as a left wing/secondary striker. I still have no idea how everyone in England missed on Hirving "Chucky" Lozano. He was a bargain over the summer but his cost will go up now. I would say push all the chips in for Luan. Jose de Jesus Corona at 36 is still a terrific keeper. I'd say he'd be an upgrade for a spring push. Contract ends this coming June I believe. His back up Allison is younger and ready to take over his spot IMO. Sticking with MX if Sakho has to go next summer Araujo is the ideal replacement. But seriously... Luan... get it done. It depends on our league position and performances in December and January as if we haven't turned the corner by then the club will be toxic and no-one will want to join us

The caliber of signings in January (and there MUST be some) will be an indicator as to where we see the next season. We'll either be signing younger players, in preparation for the Championship, or 3 or 4 good quality players to try and stay up. A lot of that will depend on the league position. If we are in the bottom 3 (as is depressingly probable) within a point or 2 of safety, the board may gamble. If we are rock bottom, 8-10 points adrift... Championship players it is

Championship players it is I wouldn't be so sure championship players we'll want will come in January to a club facing relegation when we make contact with their agents, unless Freedman finds a Bolasie or Delaney. Some may have the possibility of promotion. For us to build a promotion hunting side it'll take more than the money we had for Niasse and I doubt we'd spend £40 mil on players with inflated January fees to pay wasted wages for 5/6 months, unless we sell some of our players for inflated fees or some we're finding it hard to attract interest for. I would've thought the strategy would be get cracking in writing out lists of the calibre and price we're after and wait for some players sold before we commit to that level of championship player and more players on the books. Part of that will be easy numbers wise because there's a load due to leave in June, but you still need money to buy, and parachute money only covers about half of wages and revenue won't be more than £20 mil I wouldn't have thought.

Frank thought so. Only he had to select award, Kelly and chungy a few weeks later. What a c0ck.

I think the danger is someone will come in for Wilf, from abroad, and we will have to sell him to buy the quality of player we need to stay up. Would Wilf be attracted to an switch abroad? certainly will get more protection from the ref's

Starting to worry about this situation. If we go down then losing these players is going to happen and we will have to rebuild. If we stay up then we're having a huge amount of player turnover. I'd like to see Cabaye, McArthur, Joel and one of the keepers (preferably Speroni) given new contracts if it looks like we're going to stay up. We lose Ruben and TMF regardless so that's 5 players who have been in and around the first team squad. We have to strengthen in January but after last season and the board not wanting to break the bank this summer will we find ourselves in a similar situation or will we learn our lesson ?

It is clear that Ward, Kelly, McArthur and Sako will have key roles to play now this season and I think sensible contract extensions should be offered to all four

Sell half the squad in January, ruin team morale, and throw some random faces into the team as replacements. Sounds good.
