I believe that Palace fans on the train after Utd had the pleasure of SP company and were assured that this player or another was on the verge of signing. Another red herring by Steve to "keep the peace" or another f*** up in the transfer market.

He’s had his time at the top and maybe at this late stage in his career he simply didn’t fancy a relegation battle in the Premier League or the bother of acclimatising to a new country and language. Shame though.
