Suddenly much cherished freedom of expression is bad or misguided when it's a bunch of blacks doing it? You have to laugh. Edited by wordup (26 Sep 2017 1.01pm)

It's usually just an excuse for fans to boo the opposition, or is used for political purposes - the absurd posturing by the NFL millionaires being the latest example. (What's the paint on their faces about by the way?) Edited by hedgehog50 (26 Sep 2017 8.47am) I guess this is all about the NFL and the peaceful, lawful, protest that a number of players have taken to highlight their position on police violence in the US, specifically against black people. I don't see what the problem is. Peaceful and dignified. Some people just take songs and bits of cloth far to seriously.

It's also worth stating that Colin Kaepernick who started that isn't being touched with a bargepool due to his politics, so again so much for freedom of expression. This is no better than the google guy getting the boot for his views something I was vermently against on here. Of course only genuine freedom of speech and expression advocates will view this as such. Not snake oil salesmen latching into movements that primarily fit around their favoured groups. You see them here. Transparent as it comes.

It has no place in sport. These players are abusing their position. Freedom to protest has never been entirely free and the level of disrespect toward the President is the worst I have ever seen. If you don't like the man, you still respect the office. This is identity politics/self-interest and nothing more. They are still bitter that Trump won. Try a protest at your workplace today and see where it gets you.

The National Anthems at US Sports games have been played since 1860 something. My issue is that your hardly oppressed If your a Billionaire owner of an NFL team or a millionaire player with a NFL team. Also most if not all stadiums are paid for with tax dollars. They also get massive sponsorship & Tax breaks.

This is criticism, not a discussion about people's rights being taken away.....When you pushed 'words as violence' that was what would happen legally. These individuals are allowed their expression. This is a talk about the actual consequences. No one will be arresting them.

I didn't push 'words as violence' and have no idea what you're talking about. Carry on though, unhinged one.
