There is nothing to miss based on recent efforts and results or lack thereof. Give a youngster a chance, might as well :-)

ISTR that once upon a time we were not doing too badly "without a recognised striker" and we were playing people like Campbell and Bumfluff up front and Dann scored seven goals in half a season or something. At some point since the arrival of Wickham and Tekers it seems to have become received wisdom that the majority of goals must come from the centre forward and what you must to is whack the ball towards him or else cross it into him from the wings. And then our creativity going forward declined and whenever the centre forward was injured or not on form we didn't score goals, which has been the case so far this season.

hopefully it's a badly broken leg or worse and he never plays professional football again. Absolute lazy waste of space

even if he recovers we should send him on loan to some team in the conference that might be more his level

USELESS

If needs must, we play so-called 'false number nine' with 6 midfielders across the park - what's wrong with that in an emergency?

I find it astounding that we had more choice up front during the administration period than we have now 5 years into the premier league. It's pretty ridiculous considering the vast amounts of money flying around!

The hatred of Benteke is amazing.
Has missed one open goal vs Liverpool otherwise been denied by outstanding saves. He's been starved of service and left isolated game after game, yet he's supposed to perform miracles. No one else has scored by the way. Where are the goals from Cheek, Cabaye, Punch, Dann, Schlupp, Townsend? No one has stepped up to cover for him during his own personal drought.
The entire defence has given away game after game with a little help from the midfield and of the field we've royally f***ed ourselves, but let's all take a pop at one man cos we don't believe he runs around enough.

To make matters worse, the striker who was desperate to sign for us on the last day of the window,Niasse, who was to be cover for Benteke, scores twice today, but Parish apparently refused to pay the usual agents fee and so screwed the deal.
He further refused to pay an agreed fee for Tosen the turkey( could have sent us flying up the table!!) over 6 months and we lost out on this highly sought after striker.
To summarize,Parish must be prepared to take criticism for some questionable decisions this year !!

Can't believe people slating our top scorer from last season this much. 17 goals, who in recent years has ever looked close to doing that for us. People criticising him haven't got a clue. There are 10 other people in the team equally culpable for our position and lack of goals.

I heard it was Everton that refused to pay that fee. As for Tosen, we're we really in for him? I doubt it, as the money was ring fenced for Sakho.
Just watched the 90 minute version of the game on Sky and the experts have me baffled. I was expecting Benteke to be all over the place, but no. First half he led the line well, dropped in deep left side when we didn't have the ball in a 4-4-2 formation, won numerous flick ons and was a part of a very effective first 44 minutes in which he did his job.
Second half we only got the ball to him once and he headed it down to Cheek on the penalty spot, but he was crowded out. He went down injured soon after that and it's clear he was playing hurt, yet still there's pricks questioning his heart. To me there's only the fans who's hearts need questioning. Quit on their team quicker than a whore goes down for 50 quid.
Second half City were awesome and few could have lived with them. The big teams seem to be taking the smaller ones to the cleaners quite regularly this season.
