What went on behind the scenes is anyone's guest, but De Boer was willing to change the 3 at the back style, be it pressure from above or what. The way we played against Burnley was a step in the right direction. I really think if De Boer was in charge today we would have got some points out of it. Hodgson tried to play it safe today with the team and subs ( apart from Lee ) I would like to see over the next few matches a couple of the younger lads on the bench Ladapo and Lumeka Edited by manwitheagletattoo (16 Sep 2017 8.32pm) I can't see any of the young players getting a look in now unfortunately which is a shame because they can't do any worse.

We were a lot better last week against Burnley than we were against Southampton. I was a big Frank out man but it looked like he was bending towards a back 4 . In hindsight we should be careful what you wish for. Can't see a way out of the situation we are in at the. Moment. I don't think we are a worse team than last year . I think though other teams have gotten better because of their recruitment of better players. Where as we stood still virtually . Ok we got an injured sackho and rideaweld. They have not improved the team and no amount of changing managers is going to change that.
oh yeah ,fcuk off brighton. |

Parrish has made his bed, so we have to ride it out, and if Roy cant save us so be it. You have to give him the season now and if we are sunk by Christmas start planning a re-building, like Newcastle.

No , every professional pundit and his brother thought it was a joke that anyone would want to try and change our playing DNA with the players we had , consequently we lost 4 on the trot and couldn't score in a brothel , and yesterday we lost number 5 . I thought you were harsh on FDB, but you ultimately were proved right.

Once you appoint a manager and then get rid of him so soon, perhaps it is an admission that it was the wrong appointment in the first instance. But we all make mistakes. Thing is we have gone from FDB with a plan of evolving the club and playing more the Ajax way over time, straight into "Firefighting" mode with Hodgson, playing a style people have said is in our DNA.

There us no such thing as DNA in this sense. These are vastly paid professional sports people who should be able to adapt. Makes we wonder if Sam decided it wasnt going to happen when we resigned Speroni and Delaney.

It's our scouting and recruitment that needs to be brought up to Premier League standard PDQ - and that includes recruitment of managers.

To be blunt we have a championship side playing in the EPL. Here are some facts to digest, if we take the last five games of last season, Spurs, Burnley, City, Hull and United, we lost four and did not score a goal, add to that the first five games of this season and the stark reality is that in the last ten games we have lost 9 and failed to score in any of them. Apart from the four goals against Hull who basically threw in the towel we are / were hopelessly. In the last ten games we have also had 3 managers. Sam looked at the squad and decided to quit while he was ahead. FDB realised half of the team was crap and told them so (he wasn't showing off, he was letting them know that at 47 he was still better than them). Roy is there for one last big pay day. Kelly, Ward, Dann, Punch, Chung, Mutch, PVA, Sahko, Hennessy are championship players at best. Tomkins, Cabye, Lula, Wickham would be squad players in most mid level EPL.teams. Which, Leaves Wilf, Townsend and Sahko as three players of genuine EPL qualify

That said, the narrative in terms of teams seems to be the "West Ham way", "Wingers at Man Utd" etc etc and pundits and supporters use the word "DNA" to describe what has traditionally been the way the teams play. In terms of "New manager, old formation...." he has only been in charge for 1 game, was only appointed a few days prior to it and I believe the team only had 2 training sessions during that time.

...but hasnt he returned to what they know...what they trained in under Sam. Or is the line now that they need time to adjust to what they couldn't adjust to.
