It was so refreshing hearing Roy speak after listening to frank the bore. No wonder the players weren't motivated. Can't wait for hodgson to get us going again, he's made me feel upbeat just listening to him.

He comes across as a kindly uncle - really hope he's successful.

I've heard about those sorts or uncles before.Next thing we see will be Wilf sitting on his knee discussing tactics

He looked and sounded relaxed, confident and in control. He was at ease with the press and called them by their first names. He spoke common sense without any of the usual cliches. It wasn't all about him. It was about the club, the players and the fans and came over totally sincerely. It was an impressive start. Now for tomorrow!

Extremely impressive first press conference.

Spoke well and thoughtfully and genuinely seems pleased and proud that he's been given this opportunity.

Obviously what is delivered on the pitch is what it's all about, but having heard what he has said I am quietly optimistic that we'll see something different and start picking up some points.

Very impressed with Roy's first press conference. Have to say Frank never seemed to fill me with any hope as I found his whole attitude quite dull.

Really hope Roy does well dealt with some pressing questions very well.

Extremely impressed with his presser.

Hold my hands up. Didn't expect him to come across anywhere near as good as he did.

He's obviously proud to be managing in south east London and has a series yet calm experienced attitude.

He doesn't come across as a know it all, and honestly that's really refreshing. He's gone way up in my admiration and I wish him the best of luck.

Think we have a good'n at last.

Agree with all the comments here, remarkably calming experience to hear from Hodgson, intelligent and respectful so hoping this good feeling demonstrated on here will remain. I have just read Brede Hangeland's interview on the BBC website which indicates that we may have to be very patient and that it will be worth it. No idea how to put a link on but it is easy to find.

oops just seen there is a thread on this with a link.

Just watched it and thought he was excellent. Clearly knows what he's talking about - very positive. Season starts now and I'm sure the players will react. I hope so!

He talks about "us" and "Palace". He smiles, is realistic about what he expects. He is not self obsessed and only interested in what HE brings. As someone else said he is not de BORE! Good luck .Roy! COYP

This was the first thing I noticed, right from the moment he entered the room he was working the journalists, shaking hands, calling them by their names. That'll go down well with the press, which should translate into positive articles. He is clearly very skilled and experienced with his handling of the media, an area I thought FDB lacked.
