Well one can imagine the moronic and puerile chants of "You never shop at Iceland" and all that hogwash.

But Roy is no milquetoast and not a type of chap who enters a swimming pool only after dipping his ankles to feel the temperature. He won't be fazed by moronic vitriol.

The first thing I thought when I heard Roy had been appointed was whether he might be a little too milquetoast for the job...

I think Roy is just what we need.Only wonder why not in the first place.Could have saved the club some millions from hiring Hopeless Frank

Who really gives a toss about England and it's over paid over sexed useless sacks from 2 years ago. Not me that's for sure. He's our manager , croydon boy coming home.He will get a warm welcome of that I am sure and an even warmer applause once we start getting some points on the board. Anyone who wants to boo should stay at home and curse from the comfort of their arm chair as you are NOT welcome . Got that!

What would be the reason for booing Roy ? This would be disgraceful and something he doesn't deserve.Cannot see any reason or justification in this.

He is a local chap, who stood on the Holmesdale terrace and has taken up the daunting challenge of saving us from relegation. He is a thoroughly decent individual who cuts a figure of dignified propiety and is man of unimpeachable integrity.

I couldn't agree more. But a lot of people aren't happy with the appointment, judging from Twitter etc.

I don't do all that Twitter and twitting etc.
Have those who are discrediting the appointment offered any alternatives ?

If FDB won the first 4 games then we would have defended him every step of the way...
Beat Southampton and pick up some bonus points from City, Utd and Arsenal and the stick will stop pretty qu !ickly...

He'll be our local hero !

In most cases no. Going on Facebook here as I don't do Twitter either. I have asked several people who they would have brought in as opposed to Roy. They can only suggest managers who are already in positions. Fantasy football if you like. Going on who is ACTUALLY available and more importantly wants to come there is no real suggestions. I like Roy and I am pleased with his appointment. However my only other suggestion would have been to hold on to FDB a while longer and tried to get Benitez. However we aren't party to what happened behind the scenes and that scenario may have actually been impossible.

Yes I understand what you are saying about alternatives currently in employment.

My thoughts initially turned to Chris Wilder but he is Sheff Utd through and through, they are doing rather well and getting him away from the club would have been a non-starter on account of these factors and the fact that the club would hardly release him ! So "Fantasy football" !

Great article for the doubters to read here at the Guardian...
