I'm not going to get drawn into specifics but at the end of the day no manager gets shown the door after 4 games on results alone.

Totally agree with this. The only thing now is the squad have to stand up and be counted! No more excuses boys roll your sleeves up and get on with fighting for some results.

Christ on a bike. No more chaotic team in football I reckon. It just gets more bizarre by the day.

At least it's never boring! Hopefully the roller coaster is on the way up for a while after this guy-wrenching plunge into the abyss. Even some unremarkable trundling along would steady the nerves a bit!

What has come out today in the papers is what I had been told last night by someone who is almost always spot on. Not always, but usually.

He was a dead man walking before the season started almost. He had a 5 year plan to play 3-4-3 once he has settled in, not straight away.

We lost 3 games to the U23's with a full strength team playing 3-4-3. That to me, is the most shocking.

Parish knew he'd made a mistake after about 2 weeks. de Boer changed his mind on targets for transfers which is why we ended up missing out on a striker. He forgot! What is said about him telling Ward he was for sale the day before the season is true. He then put him into the starting eleven for our first game of the season at RWB and he got murdered.

The bloke has had a total nightmare from start to finish. He HAD to go. I am pleased Parish stepped up and acted quickly. He hired a man who talked the talk but almost certainly, could not walk the walk. Parish is not to blame. So many idiots kicking off about this, he could have gone quite some time ago.

The article posted in The Sun today is near on 100% the information I had last night. Give it a read if you haven't yet.

In fairness, we played well yesterday which is why I understand some fans disapproval of the timing. It felt like we were getting somewhere. The vibe is he wouldn't have kept his job if we had pulled off a result.

Well I think he has to take some responsibility as he hired De Boer and took long enough to make the appointment. That goes further than just a standard job interview in football.

Anyway I'm not surprised by this outcome, I just didn't see it happening that quickly.

I agree, Parish was right to decide that enough was enough. Even though yesterdays performance deserved at least a point, I would say that was only because we reverted back to playing to our original strengths.

Having Hodgson come in doesn't fill me with joy exactly but I can understand the rationale behind it.

And I think Ray Lew is a good football man who can relate to our squad of players.

Every "behind the scenes" report highlights that there is player power in the club and Parish doesn't seem able to let the manager manage.
We seem to have reached a situation in the club where players have the ear of the chairman and the manager undermined.
The resignations of Pullis and Allardyce more than hint at the problems. How often do PL managers just resign? It's virtually unheard of. And De Boer hardly seems devastated by the decision if his comments are anything to go by.

Wrong. FdB has been.
I've usually a glass half full outlook and would support giving a player, maanger or CEO a chance, but there must have been something very wrong behind the scenes.
I don't usually do negative posts, as there are plenty of folk who get their kicks from criticising & I've always thought (in all walks of life) that's it's far easier to be critical than supportive.
But, the team selections, tactics, press conferences have been far from convincing to me. The transfer window appeared chaotic & desperate to me & I couldn't understand why. Usually SP backs his manager and delivers at least some of the required transfers. The suggestion that FdB didn't have a clear view about the players he wanted might be the most plausible explanation.
So, despite the improved performance against Burnley, I'm pleased that the board took the action they did.
Obviously, SP appointed FdB and bears responsibility for the appointment and the financial loss due to his sacking. But how could he know that FdB was incapable of keeping his promise of evolution not revolution? Best to admit a mistake and act swiftly.
This said, I think that some of the SP critics will get what they want and he will be removed as CEO. If so, I don't know what will follow.
I hope we don't live to regret it.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out that there has been a massive fall out with the players and sp. he's fallen out with luka , Townsend and ward as he started messing them around in pre season, playing them out of position/ not at all.

If true that the likes of Delaney, Kelly, Lee and Ward have played some part in this then it's even worse because frankly 3 of them shouldn't even be at the club anymore. What a sorry mess.

I don't think anything went on behind the scenes
I think we lost 4 games , no points no goals , and more importantly ZERO sign of that changing
Yes we played better at Burnley
But to suggest that because of that performance we will be ok against Southampton is nonsense ~ football isn't like that
We needed to get stable again quickly
I would have loved Sam back , but it wasn't to be
Hodgson will get us back to principles and basics again , he has Premier League experience , get behind him .
Lets get the 37 - 40 points we need
Next season we bank another 200 million , thats building a football club
Not playing a system that gets us beat every week

When we took an age choosing a new manager there were people who said that there was a difference of opinion between Parish and the Americans as to who we should appoint. Just supposing Parish wanted Dyche and the Americans wanted FDB. Could Parish have engineered it so FDB failed.
