Ranieri was sacked because he was on the verge of taking the Champions down. He was tinkering so much with the team that the players simply lost their confidence, even if he "brought" (they actually played the Pearson way) the club the PL gold medals the season before...

Why are people assuming we could just dump FDB and pick up a class manager like Benitez? Isn't it more likely he'll go "f*** me, they just sacked their manager after 3 games. Looks like a f***ing madhouse to me"?

Exactly Benitez would look at our turn over of managers in recent year ,and would not touch us with a barge pole. Especially as we don't have a pot to piss in, Benitez loves to splash the cash, something Mike Ashley's found out recently , when Benitez started throwing his dummy out the pram because of funds burying up .
All the top managers only get to the top by being able to spend s*** loads by a rich club " we are not in that leauge" .
So give FdB a bloody chance for gods sake .
And if he fails the he goes, but you must look to SP and the board for some catastrophic dealing both in the transfer market and managerial appointments . But I suppose you only get what you can afford in life

Although I agree that Benitez is unlikely to want to leave the frying pan just to jump into the fire I have to take issue with your comment that he is a cheque book manager.

When he took over at Newcastle he may have bought in a few quality players but when they were relegated most of them were sold again at a profit and his net spending in last season's promotion year must have been in credit

Ni inside info, but my guess would be Hodgson . No need to pay compensation, could start immediately, and has managed successfully before in PL. He is pragmatic, and would shape a playing style around the strengths of the players we actually have. The best man for the job would be Sam, but cant see him coming back

The 'Mood music' is strongly suggesting that FDBs time a our club will be short-lived but he could surprise a lot by getting a good result at Burnley which could be a springboard for another good result against Southampton and all this talk about "Potential successor" will disappear into the long grass with Parish being lauded as a great Chairman !!!!
