oh boy , such a sad state of affairs when so called " fans" would rather support a novice such as FDB than a seasoned pro such as Allardyce This is purely a question rather than any sort of ridicule but surely fans are supporters of their club, manager and players? If you take it as ridicule I am truly sorry and apologise for insulting your intelligence ladcroydon...

Dann earned us our first point last season by playing as a second striker for the last 5/10 minutes. As for the rest of it, if FdB had gone to pieces then why would Klopp react to our subs & change in formation to see the game out? By my reckoning, we had plans a, b & c today which, for the most part, frustrated the bin-dippers. Something folk were screaming for a year ago. Didn't Dann just go up for set pieces v Bournemouth last season? How he scored his header?

I was impressed with the performance as well. Regardless as to how Liverpool played, we showed composure today.. The defense seemed comfortable most of the time and I thought KaiKai put in a solid performance too. I liked what he showed in his short spell on the pitch. It was much better today .. I can rest a bit easier.

A team like that is always going to create chances. Plus which we were without Wilf thanks to those w***ers last week. Losing 1-0 away to the bin dippers is still nulle points but it's no disgrace and represents a performance far better than the toilet we saw last week. They were expecting an easy ride and they didn't get one.

Sorry, not impressed by what I've seen so far this season. Much all round improvement still required before I think we'll see any points coming our way.

Team played well but not FDB knows his first eleven yet. Mili is a defensuve midfielder but 3 4 3 is not ideal for him. We miss Cabaye and McArthur. With them and Mili and RLC great midfield. Tekkers Townsend and Puncheon up front while Zaha out. Future looks bright be optimistic have faith.

I still have massive reservations about 343 and current squad but it was an improved performance. It's clear we need to spend though. Benteke needs a striker to push him (sad to see him struggling in this formation) we need another cb, 2 in an ideal world, a rwb and a gk.

Will that be enough to put a stop to all of the unnecessary overreactions? Or will all of the 'new breed' of fans that we have continue to call out the manager, the players, the lack of signings, the chairman, the board, the scouts, the ground, the facilities.? Answers on a postcard.. A lot of last weeks reactions were not over the top and were genuinely cause for concern. Trying to change the system too quickly and play like Chelsea was a dead cert for relegation. Also having no insight into the way Huddersfield play especially when we all knew it was also worring. However, I felt the Liverpool game we played to out defensive strengths within FdB's 3-4-3 system so I've replaced my concern with optimism, especially as the transfer window is still open.

Could've won it with another chance in the dying seconds too. Edit: For some reason I can't find the match thread where folk were arguing the merits of Pardew's decision to send Dann up front but the goal is here: Edited by Nobbybm (20 Aug 2017 8.19am)

We did play well and as a team, so that is a step in the right direction. If Bentekkers had been more clinical we would have got something from the game. That was a woeful strike at goal, it could not have been put on a plate more for him. That was as bad as Dann's sitter last week. Start taking these chances and we are back in business...
