The West Ham sending off and Asian cup was the season before at the back end of 2015. The cup final was 2016. Jedi was terrible when he came back in at about February 2016 after we lost Jimmy to injury. It took Jedi a while to get to a level for us to scrape some points to crawl over the line, giving goals away at the end of games, throwing his arms around at others and then storming into the tunnel on the final whistle (about the only times he didn't give us a clap). You could argue he shouldn't have played in the cup final.

I appreciate everything he did and stood for, accepting no bollox in the squad but the crime was not replacing him and having no idea how to rather than selling him. I don't know what went on with Jedi and Pardew but it may make good reading. Speroni was treated like unwanted goods though and Parish stopped him from chucking him away.

He was the Aussie captain that won the Asia cup. Far from Mickey Mouse in that part of the world. We didn't play better without him. We were utter s***e for most of the time he was away because we lost our battler in the middle of the field.
Utter nonsense from the first word to the last your post there.

I heard a rumour at the time that he grabbed Pards up. Would love to think that is true.

What's that? Touched him up or pinned him to the wall type grab?

I have immense respect for Jedi. Whenever I saw his name in the team I knew, whatever the opponent or the game situation, we would never be bossed about in midfield. He was a significant part of the teams that got us promoted into the Prem and was nothing less than immense in our first season, playing every minute of every game bar the last 20/25 minutes of the last game at Fulham.

I remember Tony Pulis referring to him as an old fashioned pro who looked after the dressing room for him.

Unfortunately, time catches up with every player and his effectiveness and influence as a player was waning and he was sold at the right time. However, I don't think his influence as a captain and a leader has ever been replaced and we are missing them more than ever at the moment.

Who knows, maybe he'll return in the future in a non-playing capacity. He looks like he could become an outstanding manager/coach.
