The answer is obvious

Work Rate / Effort / Heart - Obvious

The guile to create chances for a work class partner - Obvious

The ability to operate as a lone target man striker - Also Obvious

Beneke couldn't have done what Bright did & vice versa

For sheer guts, determination and a willingness to sweat blood for your team and bring others into the game, it’s a no brainer and an embarrassing comparison!! Mark Bright would put his head where Benteke wouldn’t even put a foot in.
A much better comparison with Brighty would be Muzza and worth the debate.

The thread though was started back in August so it was really asking who was better, Bright or The Benteke of last season which to be fair was worthy of debate. I like most though still went for Bright even then.

Maybe christian could do with a partner up front, share the responsability, rather than being the loan target man, and the new guy looks good, time will tell,,,,

Ask the Sheff Weds fans who they’d rather up top in their prime. Adds a different perspective but would give a definite answer.

Very true. Think Brighty lived in Ian Wrights shadow slightly. A truly top class forward in his own right.

Career stats of 212 goals from 529 games.
Roughly half his league goals scored whilst playing in the top flight.

To me, our third best ever striker after IW and AJ.

F@ck we could really do with someone like him right now!

They are truly outstanding stats. Clearly I look back at the wright /bright partnerships with rose tinted glasses but those stats more than back up my opinion.

In their prime? Thats benteke at villa in his last season? I liked brighty, but benteke in last year at villa, in his prime, was just as good!

Brighty had a different quality to him though. He’d grab his teammates by the scruff of the neck and turn militant for the team. He was ready to die for the team.

To be fair - they were great days mate.

I used to go in to every game back then thinking - 'yea we could win this'.
Now days if playing a 'big' team im thinking - 'we'll be lucky to get anything here' lol
