Everyone is suggesting that we play different formations, assuming that FDB actually knows how to train and implement a 433, 4141, 41212 or whatever. These aren't the systems he knows or believes in. He's chosen the 343, it didn't work but I'm amazed at some many of us so impatient and lacking in belief after just a couple months. Not so. De Boer and the Dutch are fed 4-3-3 for breakfast with waffles. There's still a good chance for us.?

He however said that with the players at his disposal at our club he felt 3-4-3 was preferable. I think that playing both Dann and Ward in a 'Three' at the back is suicidal.

Ward played wingback I can see for Fosu Mensa playing right wing back against Liverpool with Tomkins coming in rCB. The wing backs position is water causing us most problems with this system at the minute.

We should try a new system called 9-0-1 smash it to Zaha and hope for the best. We on for 37 pts with this system.

Really interesting analysis of how successful Chelsea done the 343 last season.

Disagree that it doesn't suit Luka or Townsend...it suits them both fine, the problem for Luka is that it doesn't suit Puncheon, who does nothing and takes up Luka's positions on the pitch nullifying his ability to influence the game as well as leaving the back 3 exposed. Townsend is made for the system being a wide player and was one of our best players when he came on.

When the game started and they started passing the ball around, nearly losing it several times, i thought, I don't like this; i want to go back to long balls, but after about 15 minutes i started to get used to it and we had a couple chances where Wilf got in the box and just mucked around with the ball and got tackled. Then they scored twice because of some horrid defending. Start of second half we were hoofing it up to Benteke and we created a couple chances but then that stopped and they scored the third. Also Puncheon had about 5 times where Wilf or PVA were running down the wing, loads of space, good crossing position and he just did his little turn around in a circle and went inside.

I watched Puncheon a few times go out of his way to pass the ball backwards, so frustrating to watch. I hope once Cabaye is back he takes Puncheons place.

Long term Palace supporter who has seen all of this "New System" before from various managers. I guess I am struggling to have any confidence in a manager who has never ever played or managed in the EPL. Yes, we must wait and see, but FDB is on a very fast learning curve here, not just with educating his players in his system, but also in learning how to play football in the EPL. Its a unique league, there is no other like it in world football and I have zero confidence in these players playing a new system and with a totally inexperienced EPL managing any system good enough to enable us to survive. Sorry, but as Alladyce and Pulls showed, you MUST have ELP experience to survive when your side is limited by transfer funds!! Crazy appointment as manager is the basis of this problem.
