You're right that Spitfires and Hurricanes had only about 30 seconds of ammunition. Also, they were fitted with (relatively) small calibre machine guns, whereas the Messerschmidts had cannons with about 90 seconds of ammunition. The mismatch - on paper - was unsurvivable.

I saw it last week & thought it was effective. As someone else said on here, it was loud!
My father was brought out of Dunkirk in a hospital ship-his heavy-gun crew having been blown up. He survived into his 90s with shrapnel in his leg which weirdly started moving a few years before his death.
He was 19 when he went there. A London lad, he'd only travelled as far as the coast before the war, but ended up in the desert, the Far East, Monte Casino & elsewhere.
Like many, he scarcely spoke about it.
As a teacher, I've taken early semi-retirement, but do share stories of the heroism of some in the wars. Children always seem respectful & interested in my experience if it's presented interestingly.

I enjoyed it. Great sense of tension from start to finish.

She attacks the film for appealing to males. Incredibly sexist if you apply feminism's rules for men equally towards women as well....But I don't....Still, I don't mind pointing out the hypocrisy.

Loved the film Mark Rylance was superb.

On a historical note The RAF inflicted more losses on the Luftwaffe than they received. The RAF played an an important part in the evacuation of Dunkirk. The Luftwaffle were virtually non-existent in the last three days of the evacuation

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.
