Looking at it cynically, we need Zaha to be fouled as much as possible - why? This may be our only source of goals (from the resultant free kicks) - and those from Wilf himself.

I cannot see goals from anywhere else.

Benteke was hardly seen, Townsend ran a lot but ultimately lost the ball and wasted the one cross he did manage to get over.

With the present set up we need to add a Gayle-type player who can run on to the through balls that will now be forthcoming from our new set up.
Otherwise I see the 'goals for' column down on last season and many 0-0 draws.

If our only source of goals next season is from free kicks won by Zaha, we'll be relegated. He already has a reputation as a diver, so we won't be given enough of them and we sure as hell won't score enough of those that are given. We have a proven striker at this level and it's up to FdB to make the best of that. If he fails to do so, by placing his 'philosophy' above practicality, then he has no place at Palace.

Bollocks.

Benteke - 15 goals last season.
Townsend - transformed after his chat with Sammy Lee. Ran 90 yards with the ball and scored, no other players required.
Milivojevic - can strike the dead ball.
Cabaye, van Aanholt, Dann, Tomkins, all scored last season. So did McArthur. Reckon Puncheon can start finding the net again. Added Loftus-Cheek too.

He has reported that he has been getting some very nasty comments from Liverpool and the W*nkers fans.

Where's Gareth Thomas when you need him?

What piffle.

Surely what's dangerous is if you expect one man to score all your goals. What then happens if he's injured, off form or sent off by a t*** ref who thinks he dives?

If you play one up front you obviously expect a good deal of your goals to come from midfield, the wingers, and even the defence. Last season Benteke scored fifteen goals. Palace as a team scored fifty.

Remember this comment.

If the boys in black don't start giving him proper protection and realising he is not a diver but extremely skilful he is going to get a very, very bad injury.

Team after team, player after player, week after week he is targeted with fouls to try and take him out of games with NO consequence. There is going to be a brawl soon because players will take it into their own hands because he gets no protection.

Agreed. And I bet it's creeping into Wilf's mind that he'll only get the protection he needs if he starts playing for a big club.

and so if he doesn't? Will you come back and admit you were wrong? We'll also remember this comment and when he doesn't get a serious injury blatently caused by another player, you'll be reminded of it.

Absolutely spot on. I personally think that Zaha is going to tear the premiership up next season. What de boer needs to bring in is defensive solidarity.

He obviously wants to change the way we play, I would assume to get more points at home, which has been our downfall since we came into the premiership (look at Burnley).

The key to the way that de boer wants us to play is that defence. We will be fine going forward but in defence we need to be solid for this system to work.

I know it's only 1 game but I seriously think that Huddersfield will tell us a lot. I came away from the Bournemouth game last year thinking we are seriously going to struggle.

It was a complete disgrace. He must be the most fouled player in the league. But what a joy it is to watch wilf, for me he's the best player in the clubs history. I remember watching his debut , I knew he would be a star then.

Most fouled player in the division last season? Eden Hazard. Second most fouled player? Wilfred Zaha.
And let's not forget Chelsea played a few more games last season than Palace!
