Not anti Parish at all, he's done a grand job so far.

To all of you accusing me of overreacting, read the first and last bits of my post again. I wrote it twice in case you weren't paying attention.

Yeah I read it again and still read the anti parish part....

Beats losing to Crawley Town with close to first choice XI. Glad that some of the youngsters got some time without looking woefully out of their depth.

I hope Damo earns his pension pot money by being the senior pro around the club and in training, rather than in competitive games.

Over the moon that we have signed Frank as our manager but to be fair to the OP, I watched the match and I can't tell just how good or bad we will be this coming season.

And how could anyone really tell from that match, against good opposition, who have already played a few matches, with an established manager who doesn't have to look over his team to see what he has got.

By all accounts FDB should be a great manager for us but it's going to be a big job and dare I say, a "transitional season".

I hope we just beat Hudders and get some early points to settle everything down. I would hate to go 6 or 7 games without a win, even if just to avoid this site going into meltdown. Even though 6 or 7 games is no time for a manager to change things around and we need to change.

If FDB can pull it off, then we are really on the way to something great, if not, it will be bad. Another manager change would really hurt this club and there's no more Sams left in the box.

Negativity out of the way, I'm really excited about the future of the club.

How can you make that judgement after 3 weeks of being manager and 1 pre season game. In which he's bought 1 player in.

Did you like the bit in the OP when I mentioned not making any concrete conclusions yet? Twice?

Or the bit when I said it was very early days?

A solid first half from De Boer’s Eagles pleased the new boss, and he is glad his new 3-4-3 formation showed early signs of promise.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, he talked about:

What he learnt from the game: “I think we learned that we were very disciplined today; that is our main goal as well as to play as a team and that starting point for me is very important. Of course we have to improve still, a lot, and work on details but first of we had to play as a team and I saw that today.

“We played against a very good opponent that everybody knows, and it was our first real game – we played internal games but this was a game played under quite hard circumstances with a new system. Only Ruben Loftus-Cheek played that system at Chelsea so we have to learn and adapt to it, and we’re not even had three weeks on it, so from my point of view it was a good performance.”

Yes good post. I'm a bit more positive but that's my personality! But I distinctly remember next to NOTHING happening last off-season under Pardew, with silly friendlies against sh1te teams and never seeing him as involved in coaching the players as I see with Frank. That crowd, venue and opposition today would have seriously developed some youngsters - that was smart. Last off season I just knew that Pardew had not prepared the team and it took us several games and lost points to easybeats to finally get going, and then the damage was done and he was on the way out and we were on the way down. I do not see that happening with this man. He will not neglect the defense, he will play players to the greatest benefits (in his interview post match he talked about 343 and making the defence very solid and allowing guys like Zaha to do less defending and more attacking). I have very little doubt that this team will at the very least stay up this season (unless something Palacesque happens and FDB resigns!).

If FDB wants to play in that formation, then I hope he can quickly realise who can play in that system and who can't.

Delaney can't full stop
Ward is not a wing back nor a back 3 player
Townsend isn't a wing back either.

Not overly fussed about losing to Liverpool though.
