Thanks, should of checked website before posting, laziness on my part. Well I'll still go, you usually only get 45 minutes of some of the first team anyway. I do agree with Maidstone fans and don't see it as them spitting dummies. This has been advertised everywhere as our kick off to the new season and you'd expect it to be a real friendly. This is an under 23's match and they wouldn't of sold half the tickets if it would have been advertised as such. Bit cheeky from the club. Actually, in my head I thought there was a clash with the Asia trip so to prevent myself saying something dumb I went to the website then saw the headline to the article explaining it! My problem with friendlies is never having much team cohesion because of the constant experimenting. It's like trying to follow the line changes in Ice Hockey. But yeah, it's wrong to mis-sell it even if anyone should've realised it was unlikely to be treated very seriously by Palace.

This was the first game when Palace supporters saw Jordan in the stands - might have been just days after he took over.Later in pre-season we suffered that defeat at Millwall and it was reported that Jordan berated Coppell behind the scenes with others in earshot. It was Coppell who instigated the meeting with Jordan regards his position and the meeting ended with both having agreed it was best for them to part company. Edited by Willo (13 Jul 2017 1.46pm) Shame. I truly believe the chairman should pay no regard to friendly matches at all.

When I go to football with my wife she has this habit of going "Sorry my love" when Palace concede a goal. She means well but she has no idea how much it puts my back up. Say nothing. That would wind me up as well. The only appropriate comment is "S***" if it was a good goal or "FFS" (in full) otherwise. Losing 4 - 0 to an outfit like Crawley even in a friendly would be a Special Occasion for the purposes of sweary words. In my house if Palace concede everyone except me laughs their arses off.

I recall when my wife first started coming with me to 'Selhurst Park' (Early 80s) she told me off for my 'Industrial Language' adding that there was an old lady behind us knitting and she would be deeply offended by it !

I'm quite good at keeping calm when Palace concede and just going "oh well" but as soon as my wife tries to console me about it I suddenly feel stressed out!

I get told off for clapping loudly. I always used to get tickets for block L of the Holmesdale as it was above all the noise but without the commitment of having to be singing for a full 90 minutes. We'd pitch up and she'd start moaning "God it's loud", "Why have they bought a drum?" and "Can't you clap a bit more quietly?" I mean I love her but it's a good job she supports Birmingham City if she's into people being as quiet as possible at a football match.

Back in the 80s there used to be a chap in the 'Directors Box' who used to bring a stopwatch with him to see how much more time was left to play ! This was before the days of the '4th official' and electronic time added-on equipment. Edited by Willo (13 Jul 2017 2.30pm)

Anyway are you sure the stopwatch was for how long was left to play, or for how long the manager had left in his tenure?
