Sell Jimmy Mac, he ain't coming back

Jimmy Mac is a great guy who tries hard every week. If we are going to shake off midfield players surely Sako, Chungy & Mutch must go first

Edited by Dan89 (01 Jul 2017 8.58pm) He was poor in 2017 because he wasn't fit and was used because we were light and in deep trouble , a big reason we have struggled for the last year is because of squad depth ,when injuries occur to certain players , it was so obvious the difference under sam when we had dann , McCarthur , schlupp/van aanholt to bring on in games.

Of course, we would replace him if sold. What we currently got in midfield. Also if a number 10 is bought in. If we got defensive mid like Kirchhoff- free transfer to be Luka replacement and decent attacking mid. Then would we need mcarthur. If we had to lose mcarthur or Cabaye? Who would you sell?

Also you lucky to get 5m for those 3. Mcarthur 29, sometimes you need to risk selling a player to potentially get better. What if we now had enough funds for Sakho, plus to sign other players.

Ultimately Mccarthur can't play cam or Dmc that well. He's a cm and a player that doesn't give the opposition a moments peace. However. In a fdb side that wants to start playing continental football... I'm not sure he can offer that much. Plus I think big Sam had ideas on selling him too. Cabaye offers a much better range of passing and go threat so you'd keep cabaye. Edited by matthau (01 Jul 2017 9.45pm)

To see out games in the last 20 minutes. Definitely should sell as long , we recoup at least 10m.

FdB says he has done his homework. If he has he will surely sell Macca at that price. Hes not first choice anymore and had some alarmingly poor games last season.

I know his form dropped off but I would seriously hope he'd be back to normal soon, he was our best player by far in my opinion. Its a no from me, we can't afford to make too many changes at once besides it would be foolish to write off an international class player. Parrot

This is what I mean about us being short of cover and relying on those who are not good enough. As for his best position, he is an absolute terrier in the middle of the park and can let Lula boss the space in front of the defence and set cabaye free behind the strikers. He has an incredible engine and reads the game well and if we are playing a high press recovery of the ball style, we have no one better in the squad at pressuring players in to mistakes. Absolutely spot on! I'm sick of people wanting to junk good players on the basis of some recent bad form (which has affected the whole team, btw).
