Monte Cassino was seriously heavy stuff.

55,000 casualties.

Polish troops played a prominent part alongside us.Pity some of those who so readily show disdain towards Polish immigrants today don't remember our debt to them, not just in Italy and elsewhere but their brave pilots in the Battle of Britain.

Here we go.

Did they undercut the British soldiers' wages! Of course did a fine job for us, but incidentally, 500,000 Poles served in the Wehrmacht during WW2.

Talk about a leap.

I have a lot of respect for the Poles. That doesn't mean I think they deserve the British birthright. If a Pole wishes to come here and work, fine....If they wish to become British and do the necessary leg work for that...fine. All this happened before the EU expansion.

But each nation has the right to set up its immigration policy to benefit its own nationals first.

As did some Brits, incredibly. There was a Waffen SS unit made up from them.

I bet the number pales against the number of so called British working for the enemy now.

I dunno. Add them to the BUF, Mosley's lot, 50,000 members, and definitely British, no so-called about it, then there was obviously a very serious treason-like problem for the British State back in the 30's and 40's within their own ranks.

Sorry Mr Funt that you don't like someone paying tribute to our soldiers and their allies re Monte Cassino (after another poster brought up their dad having fought there.

But why mention the poles,I had said in a previous thread weeks ago about their contribution to our efforts,it's just point scoring.

And if you want to be like that....let's be fair they were the reason we went to war,so they should help.

The numbers involved are put at 27 to 54.
