Not really. SP does want to buy Sakho but not for 30M.

They are one and the same thing. We tried to tough it out with Liverpool with the Benteke deal and we know it doesn't work. We won't get the player for the sort of money I suspect we're prepared to pay and they know if we don't pay what they want, someone else will.

Liverpool will get £30m or therabouts. And the suggestion that someone like Kone from Sunderland is an adequate alternative (which ive seen at various times on HOL) is a joke. He's 28, riddled with injuries. awful attitude and valued in excess of £10m!
I think we know what we would get for our £30m with Sakho and we should buy him.

I agree and I really hope we can do a deal. The difference he made was remarkable.

But what if our total budget is around 30m?

Get Sakho yeah, but what then about back up for benteke once he finally gets injured or suspended....wickham will no doubt be injured too and Campbell's likely going.

Also once cabaye or milo get injured we are buggared.

We should look at getting Clasie from Southampton, if possible on loan with an option to buy. The guy is small but class and could do a job for us a s a holding midfielder

I think it is unlikely that Liverpool will get 30 million and even if they do will Sakho want to move to club concerned? He has a reputation of being his own man and Liverpool may have to comprimise to get him sold. I suspect he will come either onn loan with an agreement to buy or for a figure of about £15 million with hefty sell on clauses and further payment based on our performance over length of contract.

Yes, Cabaye has blown hot and cold this season and I'm not sure how many more decent seasons we'll get out of him.

We could probably get by with Luca, Jimmy Mac, and Punch for a season and then find a midfield replacement.

Sahko is a class act, a leader, and has years of football to come.

Cabaye started playing well when we signed Milivojevic and he was able, at last, to move away from DM. McArthur was a complete crock when he came back from injury. And no we couldn't "get by for a season" with just those three. Cabaye is worth much more to us than we'd get as a transfer fee and wouldn't go anywhere near to funding the purchase of Sakho.

Suspect Sakho will be packaged into any deal with Saints for VVD now anyway so that's probably that
