Of course there should be a statement! It's a bit odd that given how plausible Sams reasons were for leaving that the club haven't written what would be surely a very simple statement. Unless of course as it was via the official cpfc page and was a harmonious decision there needs to be nothing more? I'm always sceptical, even more so with football and more so one more level when it comes to Alladyce.
1/6/2010.a new era.we made it everyone!!!lets get the ball rolling for another 105 years of proud history.thank you cpfc2010. palace forever.eeaaaaaaaaaaaaaggglless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I might be wrong but clubs generally put out statements with "Good wishes for the future" etc etc when the manager has been removed from his duties which of course wasn't the case with Allardyce. Edited by Willo (24 May 2017 5.38pm) And that's my point which seems to have eluded one or two on here. Whilst Sam has notified the world of his intention to resign it still isn't official and the club are unlikely to comment before it's official. As for the club posting Sam's statement, they're only sharing what the rest of the world already knows.

Rubbish. The club have a duty to the fans to let them know what is going on Yes they do, but my comment is no more rubbish than yours.

Just out of courtesy to the loyal fans (who have just endured a pretty dispiriting season), I should have thought the club would have issued a statement. Steve Parish has done a great job, but for a bloke who has made his fortune in marketing, his approach to communications needs polishing up. Doesn't the club have a PR specialist? Shareholders no but stakeholders certainly and as Willo has said it is normal practice to issue a brief statement confirming that Sam is leaving / has left and wishing him well.

It strikes me that Steve Parish takes the fans for granted - that's why he hasn't bothered to issue a statement. Of course, he is well able to take us for granted because we're such a loyal bunch and will always stick by Palace whoever owns or manages the club - or plays for it. Even so, it's bad manners not to keep us in the loop - even a statement of a couple of lines would be better than complete silence. Maybe Steve's still trying to get Sam to change his mind.

What more you need to know? He resigned for personal reasons and intends to retire, there was fall out with the club.

Perhaps Sam hasn't 'officially' left yet.

I think you will find that the lack of statement will be because the club have not accepted his resignation yet. Although they will, they cannot officially accept it until the legal boffins have thrashed out the agreement to the termination of his contract. For example the compensation package the club will receive should Sam take a job within the time he would have been contracted at Palace. If they make a statement saying thanks and bye Sam then this will be used against them legally in the discussions.

Still very sad though, once the whole process is finally resolved. Family DOES always come first. CPFC is family as much as my own flesh and blood!
