I believe that Iorfa is a centre-half by trade but Kenny Jackett played him at right-back.Very quick and is the son of Dominic Iorfa who I remember playing some while ago.

I suspect BFS might be revisiting Jenkinson, who we tried to sign in January?

Allardyce signed him on 'Loan' for W.Ham.Is good coming forward, is much quicker than Ward and has a long throw in his armoury.

It's always going to be difficult to replace our players with better players when they have performed so well for us and we feel a degree of loyalty towards them such as Ward. Hopefully though, as we progress, this will happen more often and I feel Allardyce has the know how to do this well.

Is he much quicker than Ward? Who knows as the guy has hardly kicked a ball in public this season.

And Sagna is on a free.....
Now I usually do not like older players coming in but for RB I would make an exception. And Ward may have improved second half of the season he needed to as well though to be fair t him he had his worst games out of position on the left.

On the Dutch "market" Karsdorp of Feyenoord , or Tete who has generally been a substitute at Ajax would be good additions. With the money going around in the PL it's not even impossible

The ones in bold are not coming to Palace.

Best options: Yedlin (Newcastle), van der Wiel (Fenerbahce), Mitchell Weiser (Hertha), Bruno Peres (Roma), Diogo Figueiras (Olympiakos), Ricardo Perreira (Nice), Zappacosta (Torino)

All under 10 million, many under 5 million

Exactly hence even if one thinks Ward is good enough how can one fail to see it is essential to add another RB to the squad.

Like most of the players Ward had had some good games and some s*** ones. The problem is there isn't anyone else.

Karsdorp is wanted by United and other big clubs. Not a realistic option

Ward has been a great servant for this club but we do need competition or an upgrade for him. I disagree that he has 'underperformed' (ok, maybe on occasion but who hasn't); I think he is just a bit limited at this level but still works bloody hard.

We do have to think of squad harmony and of a team that is greater than the sum of its parts; Pardew buggered it up by getting rid of Jedi so cruelly AND sidelining Puncheon, benching him in the FA Cup final for instance. It would be poor form to sack Ward off, but buying someone else in his position and letting them compete for a starting spot might be the way to do it. Ward is a professional and can clearly see that his position is understaffed. He won't take it poorly to get another person in. Jedi must surely have been pissed off to see that Pardew got rid of him and never really replaced him.

Looks like city want to re sign him but I would go for Navas, whose looked very good at RB this season and out of contract. If we can get him for 60/70k I'd go for it, don't want to be signing more players on 100k type wages; it's just not sustainable IMO.

Navas is a right winger

I realise that is his usual position, that's why I explicitly said he's looked very good at right back this season, for Pep has been playing him there.....

Ryan Fredericks of Fulham if we can get him. Think he's still got 2 years left on his contract though. Shouldn't cost that much, probably around 5 mil. He's had a terrific season in the Championship and might be ready to make the leap to the top flight. Ward has been caught out many times this season, his positional sense is lacking and his crosses can be woeful at times. Mind you he's got plenty of mates in that regard! Would still keep him for cover though if he is replaced in the starting lineup.
