Hopefully this is true and Wilf will get what he deserves. At times hes carried us on his back the last two years. He idolised here and he loves the club with all his heart. He'll be set up for life.

Please be true please be true. Is 27 too old to get a player name on the back of a shirt? Might be the first time I've been compelled to because that sort of loyalty is rare. Say what you like about 110k, that's the going rate for a player of his talent and he could of got that at a top 6 club. Only way to reward him is to become a top 6 club ourselves!

Mate, I'm 36 next week and I'm thinking of getting his little smiley goal scoring face tattooed on my chest. So you are well within your rights to get his name on your shirt.

I feel dirty saying this, but Man Utd may have done us a huge favour with the way they treated Wilf. It's clear as day that Wilf loves being the main man at Palace and it's equally clear that he gives his all for the badge. It's a compliment to him that - if he can secure the sort of crazy money he'd command at a Man City for example - he seems happy to earn that whilst playing his heart out for the club he's grown up at. Player loyalty is a rare, rare thing. If he signs the deal and it isn't a smokescreen for a huge transfer deal before the end of August, then all respect to him. Kudos perhaps to the Board and maybe even us fans for inspiring some of that loyalty?
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

Get in! Please let this be so! It was always going to be the case that Wilf had to be the highest paid player at the club. So the number was never a mystery, it was whether (a) Parish would cough up and (2) whether Wilf was going to be swayed by the lure of a bigger club. As another poster mentioned, we have Man Utd to thank for disavowing Wilf of the notion that big clubs are better. Also, we can thank the England organisation for s***ting in his bed so comprehensively that he opted for the Ivory Coast and thus removed the need for him to be playing for a high profile club. Also, thanks to Wilf for all the great things he's done for the red 'n' blue and all the great things he's going to do for the red 'n'' blue. Starting with a brace at the Tampax. We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

Wilf will get 22+ goals and assists next year if he stays fit and stays at Palace. That plus the lorry load of cash we seem to want to give him mean staying is a no brainer. With that performance on his CV (totallu achievable) he can play anywhere the season after. If he goes to any team from Man U up, he might be on the bench. There is no point going to any team from Everton down.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

I think there's a balance between the leap to the top and not being the main man but also a healthy trophy cabinet/career. I agree that the Man Utd experience may have made him hesitant (good for us) but don't agree that he'd choose Palace if he was offered the same 'crazy money he'd get at City'. Reason being, if he went to City, he'd almost certainly lift the Premier League and FA Cup at least once each as a minimum. However, if he did this whilst only being on the bench like say Fabian Delph, it might not mean anything to him. If he has even a decent role (starting against all lower teams for example) then that might swing it. All conjecture of course, some players only want money, some very rare players only want trophies. I think at 24, if we can manage the next 3 seasons right, we can try and repay his loyalty by winning an FA Cup, or dare I say a Europa League. Yes we're a long way off that second one at the moment, don't shoot me, I said in 4 seasons and if EVERYTHING goes right from Chairman to Manager to players to injuries.
