[link]http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mamadou-sakho-films-fans-chanting-13033234[/link] Probably reading into it far to much but his actions have shown to me that he wants to stay. After being flogged by PSG and mistreated at Liverpool he may be enjoying his time here being a bigger fish (tin hat) in a smaller pond and receiving the praise that goes with it. I don't think he'll go to a top club. Saints, West Ham, and Leicester could probably offer a better deal than us if they want him but he'd think before going to any of them after making such a good start here. Then I'm not sure if any other club in the league could make a more tempting offer. Edited by jeeagles (15 May 2017 11.02pm)

He can be a foundation to support the development of our young players.

I don't see the need to sell him to replace with like, if his current form/fitness matters are likely to be resolved over the summer. And he isn't surplus to requirements. Of course the player may decide that he wants to leave but if that is the case why would he go to Seaweed of all places? The only certainty about that would be championship football in 2018/9. Surely he would get better offers than that. Edited by chateauferret (15 May 2017 10.42pm) Yeah I don't see it happening either (MacArthur going to Brighton) and good reasons you've mentioned

If they were not city rivals, it seems an obvious move Our best chance with Liverpool is that they take Schlupp or PVA in part exchange. They need a left back (or 2 with CL) and hopefully with Souare back we are well covered there. Of course, without showing his ability with us over just 8 matches, Liverpool would be struggling to regain their 18 million outlay on a player who hadn't played for a year and with a manager who would never use him again

Its an excellent argument. Kone is clearly not better than Sakho but we still need a left back, so Kone & Jenkinson is better than Sakho in the greater scheme of things. So its down to available budget and working out what gives us the best value for the positions we need to fill. Kone is better than Damo. Parrot
In all seriousness: yes, a right back is definitely needed.

How much did Everton pay for Yannick? Sahko's better than Yannick. But the 30m number is tosh I think. They'll probably take 20-25. Still a lot of dosh but you can still sell-on. I hope we buy him. He seems to make other players around him better and therefore worth more money too.

How can you put a price on Sahko? We all know that his name on the team-sheet makes everyone a taller, quicker, prouder, tougher, more chilled and smarter. He is psychologically enormous for Palace. Lifts the whole team (and probably does the opposite for the opposing team). He's a freak. A beasty-freak. He does it every week. He's another line of defense: the keeper, the back four, and SAHKO! They love him in the dressing room too and he must be enormously encouraging for our youth players. Sometimes you've just got to pay the money.

Sahko and Kone as our two centre backs next season, what a beast of a pairing they'd be!

This season has been a terrible advert for them. Playing at that ground with the fans miles away and half of the seats empty can't be that much fun. I'd imagine it would be much more satisfying as a pro to play in front of a full ground, with fans singing and right on top of the pitch.
