We do need him back and to stay injury free for a decent period of time. We also need a new striker to replace Remy. Possibly a third if Campbell is off down the coast.

Please, please please let it be true!!!

Still not a proven goalscorer. plays a handful of games and then gets injured for months on end...when he is fit he never makes the starting 11 because of his china doll syndrome. Every club has one (Andy Carroll / Theo Walcott etc) you can chat about a 24yr old who has "potential" til the cows come home but that's how I view him and others of a similar ilk. A waste of a squad number.

Rubbish. (In my opinion, of course.)

I would sell Wickham as his been a liability since we brought him and with the money we get go out and get Defoe or put the money towards sakho we would get 5m for him definitely

Class act IMO. Has the lot and if the teams buzzing when he plays we'll see the best of him.

You're absolutely right. Can't believe there are people here being so negative about him.

In today's market Connor is worth at least £10 million.

We swap 24 year old Wickham for 35 year old (in October) Defoe; you clearly know nothing about Steve Parish.

I'm surprised by the lavish praise for CW on here.

He's never been a goalscorer of any note at a decent level and didn't exactly set the world on fire when in a Palace shirt.

I believe he has a hell of a lot to give back, we are well in debt with him and he owes us big time.

Also for such a physical specimen he doesn't exactly like the argy bargy you'd expect from a centre-forward.

I think he's too heavy and muscle-bound to get his feet off the floor most of the time.

Okay, he got a nice goal in the FA Cup semi-final, but that was one step in a very long journey to prove himself at this club.

Don't forget we've left our target men up alone for yonks and only Sam has changed that, wickham may be a different prospect being surrounded by his team mates rather than it being lumped to him from from the CB position...

He's scored a decent amount for us even if I think he could maybe bag a few more. I think he is a great back-up to Benteke and would likely see a fair amount of game time off the bench. He was frustrating because he would just start a run of form before getting injured again. If he stayed fit and we played him every game (we wouldn't with Benteke but still...) I think he'd bag a few. Plus, when we were struggling LAST season (sigh) our shape tended to be so much better with him on the pitch.

We are better than what we have been this season. But, ultimately, we're a midtable team at best. Wickham is a solid player for our level.

Regarding Wickham I'm in the "meh" camp.
Don't have feelings either way, he's 'alright'.
Agree that he'd need to be a regular to see the best of him, which he never will be.
When he's played and appeared to 'fancy it', he's looked good , but regularly he hasn't. Similar in that respect to Gayle, for us.
