Was thinking back to the crazy days of AP and esp theaway game vs. Swansea. 4-3 up after 90 min, losing 5-4 because our boss "did not care about defence".
Only 1 point in that game (2 less for Swansea) and we would already have been safe....Remember to put that on your CV, Alan!

Same for the home game against Swansea.

If we could have just avoided the last-gasp goal in either game against Swansea, we'd now be safe.

I haven't done my homework on this, but it seems to me that if we have over 35% possession then we don't win. Burnley and a host of others can come to Selhurst and sit back and catch us on the break much like we do to others. Burnley let us have the ball, but we struggle to break down a well organised defence with the players that we have. I feel that our best chance of staying up lies in Swansea to lose one of their last three games. Next best chance, a point in Manchester. The Hull home game could get us a point if we play it like an away game.

I agree. I'm hoping we'll win as Hull have to try and win that game. If they are trying to win then we have more chance of getting a chance on the break.

We just need to match Swansea's worse result in the next three games against Hull. If Swansea win all three then we will need to beat Hull, if they draw one then we will need to draw and if the lose one then we will stay up regardless.

My guess is that we will be safe this weekend. But Sam has always said that it will go to the wire, so maybe he is right.

Personally, I think that we have already done enough. But it is fun to watch "the remember 1992/1993 stuff" on here. Interestingly at this point of that season we were 5 points clear of Oldham with a 2 goal better goal difference. So we are effectively much better off here. But I would hate to let the facts get in the way of self-flagellation.

It is a nervy time isn't it.
Everton on form will beat Swansea on Saturday and let's hope that they are up for it.
If we need to rely on West Brom beating them on the last day then I will be very worried.
It is though in our hands - beat Hull in ten days time and it is all over!

Next order of business in Thursday when Man U play the first leg against Celta Vigo. If they win that and get to the Europa final then what's left of them will be pretty depleted when they play us.

It would be nice to win at Old Trafford in the league, I hope we're safe by then though so it's not a necessity!

To beat United at Old Trafford would top the victories over Chelsea,Arsenal,Liverpool. Even more so if it stopped them getting a Champions League place.
